Joyswag: win an Astro Gaming A30 headset for your games, music, phonecalls

Mar 16th 2010 6:22PM (Joystiq)
Aside from using them as a functional headset, I'd also take the extra speaker covers and place them on my ears when it gets cold outside.

I'm dieing to get my hands on a pair of these for Halo reach. As for the listening, I'm thinking I'd enjoy Wolfmother in surround sound glory.

Tricia Helfer, Martin Sheen talk up their voice roles in Mass Effect 2

Dec 11th 2009 11:11PM (Joystiq)
Knowing that Bioware is putting such an incredible effort behind the story telling elements in this game is very encouraging. I hope Mass Effect 2 does extremely well if only to encourage that effort in other developers.

Joystiq vs. Bungie: A Mythic Halo 3 Challenge wrapup

Apr 11th 2009 4:06PM (Joystiq Xbox)
There were only 3 of us fifties, to my recollection. And had we not been there I doubt Joystiq would have won. Well, i know they would have lost game 2 anyways...

Joystiq vs. Bungie: A Mythic Halo 3 Challenge [update 2]

Apr 6th 2009 7:21PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I don't agree. I rarely post although I've been visiting this site daily for years. Putting a post limit encourages people that spawn off topic and irrelevant comments. That said:

Gamertag: Mr R Gnome
Skill: 50 (in multiple playlists)
Ranked K/D: 1.44

Having played over 3300 games, a VAST majority of these games being played at level 50, I believe I'm uniquely qualified to do Joystiq proud. I also think it's worth noting that this information is very relevant, as a K/D ratio of 5 is considerably easier to achieve at level 40 with 150 games played. I also have a tournament heavy background, attending MLG (www.mlgpro.com) Dallas '06 as well as dozens of local and national tournaments (PGL, CPL, CAL-online, MLG-online, Tons of others).

Possible addon business models

Mar 24th 2009 4:52PM (WoW)
The original statement said directly "putting time and work into an addon". That's an ADDON. It's not ambiguously stating anyone putting effort towards anything should be rewarded for whatever it is they are doing.

No where in the article does it suggest every addon is worthy of monetary reimbursement. In fact the very last statement ( "if an addon like Recount does charge to go visit another site and get DPS meters, they'll have to make sure it's worth paying that amount rather than just using a free addon") suggests that the author does believe a level of service and quality is required to sustain any addon that would ask it's users pay or donate to continue releasing new versions.

This article is about a blanket statement by blizzard regarding donation policies that are severely limiting every addon developers possible revenue streams. It is not about some kid in a basement looking to monetize and exploit an idea to make all frames a bright green because he finds it aesthetically pleasing.

Surely you can admit that hundreds of hours of code time put into a tool that thousands of people use daily deserves some sort of compensation.

WCG Ultimate Gamer reality show hits SciFi Channel March 10

Mar 5th 2009 10:00PM (Joystiq)
For my professional halo fix I'd much rather watch Major League Gaming's television show, or even just the video on demand matches. They ultimately give away a lot more money as well. Sure the narration is horrible and the effects are cheesy, but I don't expect anything different from this WCG show. WCG has had a pretty shitty track record when it comes to paying their participants, too.

Also, I can watch MLG online. Something tells me that this show isn't going to be aired live or for free.

Yes, all of this is just my guess at how this show will turn out. No, I have nothing but my experiences to support my guesses. I'd love to be wrong and for WCG to become more than a joke to anyone that doesn't play starcraft (Last I checked their only decent money game).

Three Overlord DLC packs on Live Marketplace

The downloaded split-screen mode, is it co-op or just like a versus kind of deal?
