Call of Duty: Black Ops sets UK sales record with 3.72 million copies sold
Jun 28th 2011 11:38PM (Joystiq)They are very different games, and even acknowledging CoD's flaws, neither is ultimately better than the other for that very reason.
Just sayin

Jun 9th 2011 11:31AM (Joystiq)Checkpoints are necessary, since there is no Nexus, it's just one big world this time. I see the bonfires as a way of letting you start at the beginning of a "level" in Dark Souls. Much like starting at the end of a boss area of a world when you beat him.
In other words, the impression I have is that bonfire checkpoints are more like the points between 1-1 and 1-2, for example, not a checkpoint in the traditional style, which would serve to break a level up to make it easier.

Jun 9th 2011 10:28AM (Joystiq)Crysis and that Sniper game both use the same engine. Same engine doesn't always mean same gameplay. Turok, Gears of War, Dungeon Defenders, and Infinity blade all run on the same engine.
Far Cry 3 preview: Wandering off course
Jun 9th 2011 9:45AM (Joystiq)The first time, I bought it on PS3 on the cheap (like $15). I decided it would take too long to get into the game, time I didn't have, and I needed $ towards other, more definite purchases. So I brought it back.
Second time, I bought it on PC. And I got horribly stuck at the beginning of the game. I think you're supposed to go in some church or some building in that first town you get to, and I couldn't get inside. Had no idea what I was supposed to do. I put it down and never picked it back up.
The thing that bothered me about this game was that I just couldn't get past the learning curve. It seemed very promising, and I wanted to like it. But I couldn't.
