Xbox 360 version of FFXIII may be monolingual

May 12th 2009 3:55PM (Joystiq)
I'm not against English voices, I'm just against CHANGING things beyond what needs to be changed for a localization. The game was made in Japan by Japanese people, so obviously the game will have Japanese voices. Just like Japanese Movies, and TV Shows, and CARTOONS.

After playing so many DS/PS2 undubs, I just could never go back at this point. It's just about time companies got the message of what the fans want.

Brownie Brown interested in DS version of Mother 3

Jan 22nd 2009 3:57PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I can't really see where the a DS version wouldn't hurt the game, rather than help it. Possible better sound would help, slightly larger viewing screen... but tacked on touchscreen move, required useless nintendo wi-fi features like item trading or some garbage they always throw in...

From what I can see, even the DS Lite can still play GBA games, and there has been ABSOLUTELY nothing preventing Nintendo from releasing this late as it is. If they didn't release it on GBA, the won't release it here on DS, especially since the game is now "free" over here for all intensive purposes which would hurt their "profit margin".

Final Fantasy Legend 2 next from Square Enix's magical remake machine

Jan 14th 2009 7:42PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Woah! Now this is a surprise! Seeing as though Saga 1 was remade for the Wonderswan Color, I was kind of curious if Square-Enix would continue this series again.

Gotta say, FFL2 was definitely my favorite of the series. A totally weird plot, difficult gameplay, cool music, and the robots. The robots were awesome.

Can't wait to see some gameplay.

Konami casts new Suikoden screens

Dec 8th 2008 3:01AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Still the same crappy voice acting and crappy font. Konami has had plenty of time to correct this, but obviously doesn't give a crap what the fans think about their games (or is completely oblivious). Too bad such a nice looking game will be marred by some very obvious flaws.

At least having a flashcart, I know that when the game comes out I can play it with the original Japanese voiceovers and maybe do something about the font myself. But it sucks to buy a copy of the game and have it just sit on the shelf...

Bury the Shovelware: Metal Slug 7

Nov 26th 2008 8:41PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
The reason this game is "meh" is because it does absolutely nothing better than any of the other games. The levels are boring, the enemies repeat more than ever, and the background graffics are completely devoid of detail. Metal Slug X was a true display of Metal Slug greatness back in it's day.

And why do people keep going back to New Super Mario Bros.? It's completely overrated. Please try to prove me wrong (but think about it first) and you'll soon discover how mediocre it is.

Chrono Trigger piracy checks already beaten

Nov 19th 2008 9:43PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I appreciate how this game has an English option on the Japanese cart. I suppose I'll have to import it, and then have a version with a superior boxart (no ugly bevelling or drop shadow) and also no "licensed by nintendo" or "online features not rated by the esrb" intro screens. With more japanese releases would have english as an option so I could stop buying cruddy US published games altogether.

DS Daily: Adventures through time

Nov 15th 2008 4:57PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I am CRAVING some really good quality, reasonably lengthed games. Too many games nowadays span hundreds of hours, and it's just too much.

I just beat Mother 3 a week or so ago, around 22 hours, which for me is perfect. Is the game is fun enough, I will play through it again. If it wasn't fun, I'm completely done with it and don't have to waste time just "getting stuff" disguised as gameplay.

Nintendo DSi: The Unboxening and Impressioning

Nov 8th 2008 11:45AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
It looks like Nintendo FINALLY fixed the colour saturation this time around, which I'm pretty happy about. That alone makes me interested in picking one of these up, but then, bigger screens, better sound output (the DSL on headphones has a LOT of artifacting, could this be fixed?) and other features, end up making it a sure buy for me, seeing as though my current DSL has seen better days.

Atlus bringing Ys on DS to North America

Oct 23rd 2008 8:31PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Too bad the DS version is probably the worst version of these 2 games. Go find a copy of the PC version and the fan translation if you want truely epic.

DS Daily: Best bang for your buck

Oct 22nd 2008 3:02PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I find that most DS game (all games) are filled with almost TOO MUCH content. Seeing as though most of it is random filler and not full at all, I really wish the creators could maybe hold back a little. Make games that are condensed, fun, and have enough replay value alone on the fact that they are good games, and I'll buy.

Though, as far as having way too much stuff, Advance Wars: Dual Strike was too much for me to handle.

What games are "just right"? Super Princess Peach, Contact, Trace Memory, Meteos, any Kirby game, Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time (though not the best game, but what I'm looking for in terms of length) and maybe Etrian Odyssey to a degree, but most of that game was unfun grinding (even though it's fantastic...) Zelda: Phantom Hourglass minus the ship part collecting.
