Commodore64 iPhone app finished, denied by Apple

Jun 21st 2009 12:20PM (Joystiq)
Read between the lines. All that Apple is saying by this is that they are trying to stop trojans and virus'. If you have a C64 emulator that can load code, you can have an entry point where nefarious activity can happen on the iPhone.

If that happens and you can somehow spread a virus over the ATT network, the same people that are clowning Apple in this article would then say "Apple brought ATT down and ruined the phone for everyone". I think Apple is smarter than this.

What should happen is the developer should make a C64 Emulator with a ton of built in games and apps and sell it without having it able to execute new code. Have upgrades with new code for a small upgrade fee or free.....it gets around the issue and everyone is happy.

Plastic shares Linger in Shadows development tools

Dec 11th 2008 2:50PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Yep, give it away for free. As in, give developers engine components for free to help them out. The slice of developer money Sony gets for purchase of their tools is small compared to customer profit. Give the developers some of the more technical parts of the engine for free and let them fill in the gaps so their games have a unique look, play, and feel. Sony still charges for Dev units......this is just a value add that will boost performance and quality on their platform. It's not far fetched.

But thanks for your in depth reply to my post

Plastic shares Linger in Shadows development tools

Notice it's built in Windows via Maya. If Sony wants to really get out games that outperform Xbox and use the power of the Cell, they need to get developers off using tools that translate better from the PC to the Xbox. Making a studio suite that worked with Maya, Max, and others should have been and still should be a prime goal of Sony. Let's have the Killzone 2 Engine given to developers for Free with good tools and watch what happens........but, it will never happen. Sony is just no good at helping out developers and that hurts.

PS3 hits 10.5 million sold; aiming for 11 million goal in March

Feb 19th 2008 11:21AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Sony actually counts units sold to consumers. Source: http://kotaku.com/357883/ps3-hits-105-million-sold

So unless you know something that these guys don't...

Bottom line, if you look at the global sales of PS3, they are MUNCHING away at the xbox. 10.5 mil vs 17.5 mil and the xbox has been out twice as long. Now that the HD wars are over, you can't find PS3s at Fry's or Best Buy. This year will see MS take a hard hit from Sony and thats because of quality product and planning. Unlike MS who shoots for "First to market at any cost" and "buy off developers with exclusive deals". Argue all you want, but the proof is right in front of you and all you have to do is look.
