Aaaaand here's day three's entry.

Fanswag: win a custom Mass Effect Xbox 360 Elite [update]

So here's day 2. I can't believe my first entry was post number 1337! Hopefully a nerdy sign of luck?

The 360 would really help de-stress us I think. I've gone back to playing my old SNES games lately, and both my fiancée and I could use a change.

Even though this is a random draw, I'd hate to just post "Pick me!" or something, so I'll go with the "massive effect" this would have on me, as mentioned in the rules.

This is a bit of a sob story. I've been a gamer pretty much my entire life, and started on my grandma's Atari 2600. Yeah, I know, pretty kickin' grandma. Anyhow, shortly after that, I was given a Coleco Vision, and I've been personally collecting games and systems ever since.

I was fortunate enough to [eventually] meet a wonderful woman who is supportive of this passion of mine, and doesn't expect me to toss everything to the curb some day. Actually, she's cool with the idea of the both of us opening a gaming cafe or museum sometime down the road.

When we first moved in with eachother, I gave into temptation and did what I told myself I'd never do: I sold off my original Xbox with the intention of getting a Wii for us, and then down the road, a 360 as well (mostly for me). Unexpected bills hit us like a brick wall when my former employer turned out to be a crook, and never gave me my final pay. I bounced my first cheque then, and to cover our ground, the money from the Xbox was sacrificed. I've kept my favorite titles, in hopes of playing them again once I get a 360, though they're useless to me right now.

We've had spotty luck since. We're staying above water, but just barely, and while I would've loved to have bought her a Wii or a 360 (again, kind of like getting Wilma a bowling ball with "Fred" engraved on it, but damn does she love Burnout), it simply hasn't been a possibility.

Winning a 360 would be an amazing change of luck (you know, aside from a better job and less bills anyway), and probably a good morale boost around here. I'm sure whoever gets it will enjoy it immensely. Thanks for opening this one up to everyone up here in Canada by the way!

Rumor: New tracks with Europe's Rock Band

When I saw Indochine on there, my eyes widened and I gasped, but then felt really disappointed, as Astro Boy was their only good song. Ever.

Borderlands shifted to fiscal '09, 'better balance' cited

"better balance" = "better writing and voice-acting"?

Highlights from the Game Developers Conference 2008

Agreed! It's nice to see solid coverage of an event where the majority of the talk surrounds making games, as opposed to selling them.

GDC08: Watch highlights of (the first half of) the Developers Rant

I wish the video had more of Jane McGonigal's rant. She has the energy, experience, and forethought to change this industry for the better; at least the parts of it that need changing, or even creating for that matter.

Toys R Us drops Canadian Xbox 360 price

I'm having a really shitty day, so I'll keep this short.

Pretty much any historian worth his salt would agree that Canada's involvement in WWII cemented our identity as an independent nation, leading to the final form of Canada, and the adoption of our current flag. I never said the vets fought for our flag. You put that in my mouth. That flag embodies the history, experiences, and mindset of a whole people, including the memories of those who fought and died in the war, and that is what the vets in WWII fought to defend. If it weren't for them, there never would have been a flag.

I've worked with WWII vets in the past myself, and you can damn well bet they'd be offended by the canadian flag being portrayed upside-down. I've seen a man with more medals than his uniform could support, enraged over the World Series incident in '92. Out of context or not, it's a sign of disrespect for what they fought to protect and establish.

Show a little compassion and think twice next time before calling someone an idiot for feeling the way they feel.

No problem Kyle. You guys have been providing level-headed, responsible information since day one, and I know you wouldn't intentionally offend. Actually, I can really respect the visual problem solving that led you to use the original graphic. It's just the end result that was the problem really.

And to AirIntake and MarMar... tell that to a WWII vet, and see how long you go without either getting your face caved in, or making someone cry. Use your common sense for crying out loud. People have died for what that flag represents.
