On the first read I was thinking, "Man, Sony has really gone downhill. It's actually supporting a life-threatening disease?"

Apparently this was a pricing snafu. Dell is doing a deal where they take $150 off select computers through August 8th. This was incorrectly applied to the 360 Elite. This has since been corrected (go on Dell's site and if you add it to your cart it will be $449 again). I was just about to submit my order and when then the shopping cart refreshed and the $150 discount disappeared. I waited too long I guess :(

Hmm, this is an interesting proposition. I'm a T-Mobile customer and would love to see them expand coverage and offer faster data speeds. I wouldn't like Nextel getting dragged into that merger though. And besides, I remember reading an article about the US government taking over iDEN networks for their own use in the near future. What ever happened with that?

So technically you should be able to put it in without loading SP2 first. However, I've had some SP1a installs that won't take SP2 (this is usually due to 3rd party software though), so I'm not sure how it'll act in a 'real-world' situation.

When MS actually offers the full version of SP3 for download you can simply slipstream it using a nice utility like n-lite.

However, if you don't have your XP CD that's not going to help. They will be offering SP3 on CD in a few weeks I believe. Not sure if a fully integrated SP3 XP CD will hit the shelves before they stop selling it though. My guess is that it probably will.

Again, this link to TechNet does us no good. Technet has the release candidates, I do not see a final version of SP3 listed as of 11:31am Eastern Time.
