250GB Xbox 360 hard drive now available for $129.99

Mar 23rd 2010 8:21PM (Engadget)
@joebob Its actually really easy to recover DLC on the PSN. You go into account management, then download list, select previous downloads (including any DLC) and voila, you have your songs back.

PSN does have some restrictions but Live is WAY more restrictive.

ATI Radeon HD 5750 brings HDMI bliss to HTPCs for $110

Oct 14th 2009 1:45PM (Engadget HD)
I think what you and anandtech mean is that you must wait one year for a perfect HTPC video card according to your needs now.

In one year there will probably some other feature for us to lust over, so a perfect card by our standards now will be completely different than the standards we set in a year.

Brilliant PS3 Slim ad loses Nigerian scam reference, internet rumors now known to have started WWI

Sep 11th 2009 9:48PM (Engadget)
old version was funny,

new version is funnier. it would actually be an interesting ad campaign if all they changed was the different "you cant believe everything you read on the internet" theme for each commercial. it could be like the coors light commercials with the guys asking NFL coaches questions and then spliced in post-game interviews (you guys know what im talking about right?)

anyways, big props to sony for doing this "advertising" thing right for a change.

Sonic upgrading CinemaNow movie streaming to 1080p

Jul 29th 2009 5:15PM (Engadget)
Reminds me of the good old days of the processor wars. Intel sold p4 3.8 ghz monsters solely because they said 3.8 ghz on the box.

Although, pretty much everyone in the industry relies on the 1080p buzzword to sell new tech. Does John Q Public really even KNOW what 1080p means? Doubtful - they just know 1080p is larger than 720p and the guy at best buy told them that 1080i is like... less than half the detail!

I hate misinformation. But hey - if you enjoy watching pixelated 1080p content encodes - be my guest. I will enjoy my 40 mbps AVC stream coming off my blu ray discs.

FIFA producer cautious on Natal, PS3 motion wand use

Jul 16th 2009 10:55AM (Joystiq)
also, many people seem to forget that the PS eye is also capable of body tracking. That, when used in combo with the light sticks, can do depth perception similar (but not quite as well probably) as natal.

just sayin.

FIFA producer cautious on Natal, PS3 motion wand use

Jul 16th 2009 10:53AM (Joystiq)
I think that this guy is missing the point. The motion controllers from both Ms and sony are not intended to completely replace the standard gamepad, they are there to be used in certain situations. Nintendo has made a killing of off putting out games that you are only supposed to play for a half hour at most and then put down (or play in groups and only play for short periods at a time, handing off the controller). No one expects you to waggle your way through a game of FIFA, Madden or NHL games.

Motion controllers are supposed to expand gaming into new places, not completely change existing control schemes.

Its not like ms and sony are saying: EA, you must adopt motion control for every single game ever! they instead are saying "see what you can come up with using this new interface." This is what I think was most intriguing about sony's e3 demo: they didnt try to hype it to be the be all end all of IO, instead, they said, "Hey, look what you can do when you have extreme accuracy."

MS said, "Hey, make some cool mini games with this interface, or maybe even break down the 4th wall completely. Also, try navigating a ui using only your body."

EA is missing the point here.
