GAME to close 85 UK stores

Sep 29th 2010 2:06PM (Joystiq)
@Istari Spartan

Having worked in both, i can tell you that isnt true. Plain and simple.

Gamestation was better to work for, because they didnt care about anything, including customers, i could spend the day flicking rubber bands at other members of staff, and i was loved in my store.

a year later, i applied for a job in GAME, and the only member of staff that doesnt play games is the temp manager we have, the rest of us are all hardcore gamers. also, GAME and Gamestation, being the SAME COMPANY, also means we pricematch each other.

I suppose my point is, we are all gamers, thats why we work in a shop dedicated to selling games.
Tho anyone who has worked in either, knows the hellishness of shovelling crap down every customers throat.
but thats in every job..

Ned or Ned's are words in Scotland we use to single out idiotic bus-stop dwelling school kids that cant wear baseball caps properly, stands for Non Educated Delinquents.. Basically, the Scottish equivalent to Chav's... So.. yeah.. Thats what comes to mind.

so we agree that they both have their merits? as both require skill to achieve kills.

As for the controller being more noob friendly... kinda... let me explain:

people who havent touched a video game before will look at a controller and not know what the heck they are ment to be doing... because its unfamiliar..

keyboards and mice are very familiar.. surely they are more noob friendly in that sense...
and look at the MLG players... theres skill to controllers too. ALOT of skill.. it seems like your touting a weapon of choice... surely that doesnt matter?
Halo innovated in what it did... cant we all agree on that?

I disagree thats its dumbed down. Its different... but think of it like this: i was on halo 2 last night, continuosly getting spawn killed and so on... for ages i felt like nto playing anymore, barely getting a single kill.. i was out of practice... but i was eventually getting better, getting my own back, the fun of hunting a player down, keeping his sheilds low... even when they hide and regenerate, only to come back and get hunted down again.. untill i get that kill.. Thats deeply satisfying. more so than back in the days of CSS. Kill. Respawn. Kill.
i guess what im saying is the "inferior" system gives people a fighting chance, and if your generally good, it wont matter.
And ill forever attone that I PERSONALLY think the controller is better. because if i wanted to sit and play on a keyboard. id take piano lessons. (bad pun, but it works.. mostly)

Cameron, you miss the point. Games are DESIGNED to be ENTERTAINING.
There IS strategy in Halo. Tho not the same sort you'd apply in chess. Health packs were ditched because its not fun for someone to have no shot against the vet's in a game. And we were all new once.
Id rather have more opponents that yes, i MAY be better than, but if they get a good kill on me.. ill be happy for them.
Forgive me for this - but you sound like such a dick. OK, OK! WE GET IT! EFF HALO! HEALTH FTW! Whatever! But I LIKE the sheilds. and so do the majority of people. I HATE Keyboard and mouse combos, i wont deny that they are better for FPS' but i cant play from my bed, couch, floor, bathroom on a KEYBOARD...
Seriously... Leave. Please.
