Axel & Pixel hit XBLA Oct. 14, trailer is wonderfully weird

Oct 2nd 2009 8:26PM (Joystiq)
I'll have to get it to support the industry, and to impress my Girlfriend, and other ladieeez, but I dunno looks boring. I felt the same way about Braid so maybe it's just me.

Love the new Art Style thought. Excellent work!

Matt Hazard returns in Blood, Bath and Beyond

Oct 1st 2009 6:51PM (Joystiq)
First thing I thought of, good call. Considering the first Matt Hazard blew too hard to get that cartridge working again, being Shadow Complex-y is a great thing.

To defend Uncle Jesse comparing Contra to Shadow Complex is like comparing Netscape to Google Chrome. . . . get over it.

Joystiq remembers the Sega Dreamcast

Sep 9th 2009 4:22PM (Joystiq)
I bought my DreamCast the 3rd week of school of my Freshman year with my Student Loan money starting a long relationship with debt that is still ever revolving.

I didn't have class until later that day so I woke up, took the train (I went to Syracuse University) to the Mall and plunked down a carefully calculated $500 and some change for the Dreamcast, 2nd controller, Sonic, NFL 2K and Soul Calibur.

What followed was about 9 months of varying NFL 2k games, more Soul Calibur than one could imagine, and making tons of friends that I still have to this day which made for a memorable first year of school.

Everyone was dissin the DreamCast at first (I was one of the few serious gamers on my floor), but I definitely remember more late night Soul Calibur parties than most people would admit to nowadays.

Definitely great times!

Metroid Prime - Such an exciting time getting lost in that world. Truly Epic!

WRUP: Joystiq Asylum edition

Here's a way out of that. You can do Wayne Manor and the Batcave in tandem, and keep Batman's identity intact by doing a "mental" story. Batman: The Animated Series did this from time to time. They would explore the Batman mythos by exploring Batman's Psyche. Say the Scarecrow or the Riddler drugged Batman or (if you remember one of the early Batman: TAS episodes where the Riddler hooked Batman up to a "Dream Machine) incapacitated him, and for Batman to gain control of his mind, he could cruise through Wayne Manor and the BatCave reliving some of his battles villian by villian, while also battling his internal demons.

Joker's Fun House wouldn't have to be an island, you can conceive of a funhouse big enough and dangerous enough to hold plenty of environments, plus if you add the VR aspect it could open it up.

Or you could combine the scenarios.

Whaddya think?

WRUP: Joystiq Asylum edition

Aug 28th 2009 10:47PM (Joystiq)
This might be too late but,

Batcave - Dark and big, "hidden" parts of the Batcave, could open up to "lighter levels, and tons of vehicle use.

Wayne Industries - Could span multiple "parts" of Gotham without actually being Gotham

The Narrows - Obvious

Wayne Manor - Could lead into #1

Sewers - Killer Croc, Penguin, etc. etc. lots of villans hang out underground.

Joker's Funhouse - Not too hard to conceive, could be villan based as well.

That's all I got.

will be playing Batman: AA and Shadow Complex this weekend. Will boot up weekly Halo 3 and Battlefield to stay fresh, and will think about finally finishing MGS4 but it won't happen.

Cheers!

IT's alright, but YTCracker is better. Much nerdier. :)

Thoughts?

Tools of Destruction. I don't think a Crack in Time is out yet. Wanna beat this one before that one. Yea I'm excited I played a demo in Best Buy and the game is just plain gorgeous. I think it still holds up as one of the best looking games out there period, even though it was released relatively early in the current console cycle.
