SoulCalibur 5's story mode is one-fourth its originally planned size

Mar 31st 2012 6:39PM (Joystiq)
I honestly just wish they'd not have tried to get all fancy and just kept the mode from SCIV in. Sure, none of the endings were canon. But they were replayable. Can't really say the same for the "story" mode in 5.

Browserquest: an MMO tech demo made to work in browsers everywhere

@koehler83

True. Java is kind of cross-platform, but not natively like this. Wish I could get it to run, but I think my work firewall is preventing it. That, or I need more CPUs and disk drives.

Mass Effect 3 multiplayer kicks off 'Operation Raptor' this weekend

@BeefSteak

WRAAAAAAAAHHHHH! HAHAHA!

A lot of people think that Krogan can't compete on Silver. I prove them wrong consistently. Give me an N7 Crusader (a highly underrated gun that is ridiculously accurate and can pierce cover), a Widow sniper rifle, and the Krogan Rage effect, and I pretty much can waltz into enemies and wipe them all out.

To be fair, I stick with the Sentinel, which with the right upgrades has 1600 shields, 1200 health, and reduces all damage by 40%. I can stand up to a geth prime on silver, and their electric rocket thingies only take off 1/4 of my shield bar. We can carry whatever weapons we want too, because Tech Armor lasts forever, lift grenades have no cooldown, and you won't be using incinerate at all.

Next stop: Gold!

ngmoco's Cousins expects free-to-play equivalent of Skyrim in a few years

God, please, no. God.. no.. Just.. NO. I'll pay my $60, hell, I'll buy DLC, but I will NOT deal with the low-quality garbage that comprises most of the F2P market.

Atlus PSP titles heavily discounted on PSN

@AngelTheSeaguy

They are all turn based for the most part, but none of them use the Active Time Battle system that is featured in FF7, 8, and 9. Persona 1 and 2, if I recall correctly, have you put in all of the commands for all of your characters at once, and then the battle plays out after that. They also use a grid-based combat system that means you have to be strategic about where you place your characters. Not my cup of tea, but some people like that.

Persona 3 and 4 are more traditional turn based games like Final Fantasy X. In addition, both have the "Push Turn" system which lets you get additional moves by knocking down enemies by hitting their elemental weakness or scoring a critical hit with a physical attack.

Amazon holding 'buy two, get one free' sale

@Darklink2009

Fair enough. My Wii is out of commission and I have all the games I want for my 3DS right now, so I didn't browse the Nintendo section. They were wanting $49.99 for some games on PC that were nearly 2 years old.

Diablo's Descendants

@Ouren OR THE DARK STONE WILL SHIIIIIIIINE

I loved that game, though it may have been due in part to that glitch on the Playstation version that let you buy and sell maces and make ridiculous amounts of money.

Amazon holding 'buy two, get one free' sale

It's nice if you're looking to buy several new games, but there are better deals out there on older ones. All of the prices are at their normal $20-40 range instead of being discounted like they usually are on Amazon.

Try Phantasy Star Online 2's character creation April 5

@Knives Chau It's true! I probably wouldn't have bought Dragon Age: Origins if they didn't give me the chance to play around with the character creator first.

And I bought that one twice, on both PC and Xbox!
