My Snow Leopard casualties: what's not working in 10.6

Aug 31st 2009 10:12PM (TUAW.com)
For anybody using PithHelmet, the 32-bit workaround works and it will load (for me), but you might get an error message each time you start Safari saying it didn't, and the Safari preferences menu will open as well.

The $29 Snow Leopard upgrade: usable for 10.4 Intel Macs as well?

Does anyone know if you can install Boot Camp with the 10.6 Snow Leopard disc, or does that still require the 10.5 Leopard disc?

An even better deal for Canadians, as it's still $7.99 on the App store, but 800 Microsoft spacebucks is closer to C$12 up here. As long as screen size isn't a major consideration for you.

You will not escape Dungeon Twister on XBLA

If two hours is too long for an online boardgame, Descent's 2-4 (realistically 3-6) would be far too much (unless you could save). But in any case, the rules for Descent unfortunately aren't hard-and-fast enough for a computer implementation, too much ambiguity, contradiction, and room for generous interpretation--check out the Fantasy Flight forums for some obsessive, sometimes heated rules discussions. Otherwise, I would love to see an virtual version of Descent, it would sure save a lot of set-up/takedown time. :P

Become real po-lice with Interpol, now on the XBLA

@Xav: Yes, I read that, but I felt that your writing was dismissive of the game's worth--and thereby its fans' taste--nonetheless: "help solve fake crimes", "basically an eyesight test", "You know, like real po-lice".

Become real po-lice with Interpol, now on the XBLA

@Xav: Ah, Far Cry 2, the game that lets you treat malaria with a magic pill. You know, like real medicine.

I want to tell you to editorialize less, or that if this game doesn't appeal to you maybe someone else should have reported it (operative word: report), or that not all games are for "us" (hardcore, not-casual, whatever you want to call it), or that knocking one genre for not conforming to reality is a little preposterous given how few video games—in their purported strive for realism—actually do.

I'm not a big fan of search-and-find games, but the genre certainly does have its fans, and lots of them, and probably none of them appreciate being told implicitly that their choice is somehow a bad one.

Rock Band Weekly: A Roy Orbison six pack

I'd like to think that if these Orbison tracks do well, we might expect some Traveling Wilburys in the future!

Tech issues delay Fable 2 Knothole DLC into Jan.

I know! They should rush it to release with known bugs—*that* would be a *real* thank you. Damn these lazy developers (plural, there're more than just Molyneux you know), they've probably got it easier than us, and all we have to do is sit on the sidelines and bitch.
