FIFA 12 first on UK charts, beats GTA 4 debut

@MrAlex You could say the same thing about the first Modern Warfare and the games that followed it. The reason the new fifa did so well isn't because this one was a huge leap forward, but because the last one was and it picked up a lot of fans.

@darkbunny157 Well whichever of the two GoW games you meant, neither are multi-plat games :)

Journey floating to PSN in Spring 2012

@sydweis I love how ironic your post is, you attack Baby Sea Tuna's maturity in a very childish way.

I don't see what's wrong with what Baby Sea Tuna wrote. He likes a deal as much as the next person but is smart enough to see that price is not neccesarily equivalent to worth.

The example I would present is going to a high end restaurant and paying 200 pounds for a meal for two, and sure, you're paying for the experience; but you end up still being hungry after (Just like with a lot of AAA games), or going to a pub and paying 20 quid for your dinner and getting something not quite so "professionally" made, but you feel nice and satisfied with it.

Crytek developing Homefront sequel with THQ

@Mehbah *Spoiler alert* (For the five people left in the world who haven't already played MW2)

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, or thought about it, but in Modern Warfare 2 the American General turned out to be the bad guy and gets taken down by an English and Scottish guy; and that game was developed in the US, so I wouldn't say that EVERY war game is pure propoganda.

But at the same time, the US is one of the largest single country install bases in the world for video games; why would the stuidos not want to cater to that area's patriotism or pride? Money is good. ;)

Uncharted 3's premise crammed into 23 seconds

@StormChaser91 They need to integrate some sort of code into the windows OS so that if someone is typing a date on an English (NA) keyboard and someone is reading it on an English (EU) default language, that it swaps all dates around automagically.

And vice versa of course; I'm not trying to spark a flame war; just think it would be convenient so I don't go "This game isn't out till January next year?!?!?!?! Ohhh.... wait." :D

Sorry, did I actually get up and go to work today? Or am I still sound asleep in my bed and this is an insane part of my dream?

I don't know if I should get this to satisfy my sheer morbid curiosity!

Ridge Racer Unbounded gameplay video ruins dozens of sidewalk cafes

@Brian Griffin Err, yes?

Burnout is all about learning the shortcuts so you can knock a few seconds off of your time. The mechanic might be a tiny bit different, in so far as you need to fill your meter to take the shortcut, but it's not really revoloutionary.

As for making your own tracks, burnout allows you to set up to 8 waypoints anywhere in the city to create your own race.

if you can't see the similarities between the two games you're deluding yourself pretty hard.

@TheIcemanCometh I dunno, I don't mind that it has arcadey controls and the cars can drift round corners at 200 mph; but being an arcadey game is no excuse for taking out half of the challenge of racing (IE avoiding dangerous obstacles).

Like I say, I can live with smashing down superficial things; benches, lamposts, small children playing in the street.

Amazon celebrates PS3 price drop with discounted games

@PointlessPuppies

The majority of people who buy HD TV's will buy the more affordable types, leaving the super high end TV's to those with a lot of disposable income or a great degree of technophilia.

If you're ever tried to hook a PC up to a bog standard HD flatscreen, you'll see how crappy it looks compared to if it was connected to a monitor. I'm not sure why this is, but it's something I've seen quite often - all my friends are nerds like me, plus I've tried connecting my PC up to a few HD TV's just for convenience (Just so I don't have to set up to sets of screens in my bedroom), and been dissapointed every time.

Given the lack or decent resolution that the TV itself outputs, I'm not sure how super important the difference between 720p and 1080p is anyway, particularly if the screen size is below 40"
