People need to stop with that comparison. There is a very big difference that must be noted, in that the Xbox 360 wasn't gathering dust on store shelves at this point in it's launch.

Both will fail. Just keep watching.

Anyone with even a passing knowledge of thermoset polymer behavior knows immediately that this story is... quite false, to put it nicely.

Assuming the remote were thrown hard enough to penetrate the plastic housing, the propogation of the cracks would be MUCH more extensive. Basically, a helluva lot more cracks would be present.

You see, thermosets are much different from thermoplastics in a few key aspects, one of which is deformability. This particular trait goes hand-in-hand with strength, in that lower deformability coincides with higher strength. However, higher strength coincides with an increase in the "brittle" behavior of the thermoset.

So, the energy required to penetrate the case would be so great that it would inherently cause MUCH more fracture propogation than is shown there. The damage evident in the photos indicates the hole was made by a much higher force, lower-"engergy" (i.e. a slow break) action, such as prying or bending.

Wow. That's a beautiful car.
