MLB 12: The Show fouled up by online pass issues

Mar 23rd 2012 3:20PM (Joystiq)
I know it's not quite the same issue, but this is still frustrating. The Vita is region free, so you can import games and play no problem, and I really appreciate that, being in the UK, there's no way to get baseball games other than importing them. And seeing the quality of The Show on a handheld, it was a day one purchase. Unfortunately, although the console isn't region-locked, for some inexplicable reason, the online passes are. I can think of no reason at all that I should be locked out from all the online features. I'd have been perfectly happy to pick the PS3 version up as well if it meant I could use the cloud save features (and the Diamond Dynasty mode sounds ace). Sadly, they have also taken the decision to only use the cloud for swapping save games between Vita and PS3 (no memory stick file transfer option), and because of the pass being locked, I can't use it. So they've cost themselves a sale.

I don't like the online pass phenomenon, but I generally get by with it alright as I tend to buy my games new anyway. It's just situations like this, when there's no reason for it at all, that frustrate me. I'm a legitimate customer, yet I'm locked out. Why?

Analyst calculates Game's loss from not stocking Mass Effect 3

Mar 2nd 2012 12:42PM (Joystiq)
I presume this doesn't take into account that more would've been lost from not being able to stock pretty much anything else had they accepted EA's terms.

Also, the Ubisoft thing was sorted within a week, stores got stock as early as this past Tuesday.

Games on Demand: NBA Street Homecourt, Conan

Jul 13th 2010 11:40AM (Joystiq)
To be fair, that's not too bad if it goes for the UK users as well. Homecourt in particular is very hard to get hold of, so when we trade it in at our shop it usually sells for £15-£25. And with Games on Demand, at least you don't have to wait for some store somewhere to get a preowned one in.

I imagine they'll be going for about a tenner on Ebay, mind.

Brace yo'self: New EA Sports MMA screens might hurt

Mar 16th 2010 2:52PM (Joystiq)
Can do without the snotty attitude, guys. It's bad enough on wrestling coverage, at least MMA is a real sport.

BioShock 2 players report multiplayer freezing issues [update]

Feb 11th 2010 4:13PM (Joystiq)
I'm really enjoying it, kind of a TimeSplitters vibe to it. I haven't had any freezing problems (on 360, fingers crossed), I had it lock up once when I tried to view the scoreboard whilst dead. My main issue is the waiting to get a game, I think it's actually taken upwards of 20 minutes to get enough people in for a match a couple of times.

Madden Ultimate Team now available on Xbox 360 and PS3

Jan 9th 2010 11:50AM (Joystiq)
I'd imagine it's free to entice some more sales, since the figures were lower than previous years'. FIFA, meanwhile, will sell by the bucketload regardless because OMGFOOTBALL~!

And foney football? Really? At least the yank version doesn't have players tripping over thin air and crying at referees because they can't stay within the rules for five minutes.

El Presidente, the Tropico 3 demo is now available

Nov 18th 2009 3:23PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Tropico is already out on 360. Or at least it is here in the UK.

Bethesda production director says MS 'totally bungled' ODST marketing

Sep 22nd 2009 4:25PM (Joystiq)
Don't know about Stateside, but in the UK, the place I work (Gamestation) is selling the game for £34.99, which isn't bad considering the average is £39.99, and a fair few recent releases have been £44.99. Spec Ed is £59.99, essentially making it £25 for a pad, not too shabby.

Some copies of Madden 10 missing 'Online Franchise' DLC codes

Aug 14th 2009 5:18PM (Joystiq)
Yeah, the domestic leagues aren't massive by any stretch. I wasn't trying to say there's some rival leagues doing massive numbers. Still, there's solid support for the NFL, hence why Sky Sports got into the habit of showing triple-headers last season, plus more if you count the interactive alternates.

Some copies of Madden 10 missing 'Online Franchise' DLC codes

Yeah, actually American football is huge in Germany and Japan, where there are even semi-pro leagues. Big fan following in the UK too.

why exactly is Vick getting such a slating, when Donte Stallworth KILLS A MAN, and no one bats an eye?
