I feel your pain, Justin. I review films for a newspaper in my spare time. The main point is that its your words and your thoughts. So what if some idiot under the mask of anonymity thinks that your opinion is bullshit? You're dealing with this crap with Mafia 2. I remember Adam Sessler dealing with this stuff in one of his Soapbox segments with regards to Final Fantasy XIII. Its ridiculous to believe that there is a conglomerate or cartel of reviewers out there that 'score fix' reviews for the purpose of making themselves look good when a popular game comes out. This is also why a site like Eurogamer tends to score games differently than everyone else. Hell, Metal Gear Solid 4 got rave reviews from every outlet accept Eurogamer who gave it an 8/10 (which is still a damn awesome score imho). Gamers tore into them for days after. It was stupid and just downright ignorant!

In the end, the standards of the gaming site coupled to the individual reviewers ideals and expectations are what make a review. Moreover, to expect that a reviewer should adhere to the public's expectations or ideals just for the sake of covering their ass is stupid, and I hope for the sake of your sanity, Justin, that people will begin to realize that. In fact I'm also hoping that I don't get too much backlash when I write my review of Inception (which imho has some rather big flaws that everyone seems too hyped up to notice!).
