I totally agree that they're entirely separate in terms of gaming capabilities and the types of titles they publish. However, iOS & Android devices are undoubtedly taking a measurable chunk out of the portable gaming marketplace, if only in making prospective customers reconsider purchasing another portable device.

I can say with absolute certainty that I love the idea of the 3DS and the price doesn't bother me, but carrying around another device with one singular purpose means I probably won't buy one.

@itskrislol I think he mainly was referring to the PS3 controller - I'd say the Wii has simply become that much of an afterthought, but then....[silence]

Anyway... I guess I see your point about the battery failing, but I just don't see that happening enough to justify the difference in price. I mean, the Dualshock 3 is readily available around 40-45 bucks, so I don't care for a $20 price difference (which will probably drop to 10 by the holidays) for what amounts to 'battery insurance'.
