SCE VP: Move should have done better in Europe (but it didn't)

Jan 13th 2012 8:40AM (Joystiq)
It's all about the software. Sports Champion was fun, and showed the accuracy of the Move controller, which is its real USP over the others. Same with Tumble.

Other Move games I have played just did not give me that feeling of direct 1:1 control. Just brought me back to Wii remote waggling games. I played the demo of the new EA tennis game and it just did not feel accurate. Strangely felt more like playing tennis using the analog sticks on the Dualshock.

Sony need to make a killer Move only game, advertise it to hell and get word of mouth going - they need to have a must have title. There isn't one today..

Just Dance 3 shimmies into 7 million households, 25 million franchise sales

Jan 13th 2012 8:31AM (Joystiq)
I know that it is mainly hardcore gamers on here who mock these games, but I will stand up and admit that I (and a houseful of friends and their kids) had a blast playing this on New Year's Eve. Anybody that plays it sober and by themselves needs their head examined, but as a party game it was a lot of fun.

Apparently my Bollywood dancing was quite something to behold.

PlayStation 3D display delayed in Europe

Nov 24th 2011 8:01AM (Joystiq)
I really like the idea of full screen multiplayer - the dual play. Full screen co-op or versus would be fun and would get past the problem of the other person glancing at your side of the split screen to see where you are on a map.

Can they not just make that part of the HDMI standard if it isn't already and then sell horizontal and vertical glasses to the new active glasses standard? Or universal ones that allow you to switch the polarity of the lenses so you can switch between 3D or dual play?

There are bigger and better displays out there, and it would a shame to see the dual play idea disappear due to issues with this screen.

Whilst we are on the subject, surely it is time that Kinect and the Playstation Camera picked up on a gamer's glasses so that the POV for 3D gaming can reflect your head movements as per those awesome tech demos...

Rock Band celebrates Facebook milestone with Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, Breaking Benjamin, and Dream Theater

Mmmm - Radiohead. Just, Paranoid Android, Lucky, High And Dry and Karma Police. I'd buy that as a track pack ten times over.

I can't listen to Just without thinking how brilliant that would be in Rock Band. In fact I seem to have that thought far too often when listening to music...

European PSN releases for August 24

@DigitalEmporer

I fell in love with PES on the PS2 and bought all of them although the last few iterations started to lose me a little. It was FIFA09 that finally moved me over. I can't remember the lead guy's name, but I read an article that he was a PES fanatic himself and basically dumped the annual gimmicks and got the game to play a decent game of football. Kudos where it's due.

Resistance 3 goes gold with new trailer, bonus content details

@MJR

Everyone on here seems to have fonder memories of R1 than R2, yet R1 definitely had the murkier palette. As someone above stated - if it is done stylistically and appropriately then it can be a good thing.

Rugby World Cup 2011 demo now on Xbox Live, tomorrow on Euro PSN

@jynxycat

:O) Do a search for rugby cabbage ears and check the images. As an ex-Rugby player in their 30s suffering from osteoarthritis following a dislocated knee, I can assure you that the game is definitely very physical. You get raking and stamping with studs, eye gouging, ear biting, punching in the scrum, and just the massive hits that the players take again and again and again.

Rugby is a great game, and it would be fab if a video game could finally capture the sport successfully.

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD trailers are too pretty, too soon

Beautiful, beautiful games.

So few games have ever managed to evoke a level of emotion from me. (Heavy Rain is one other I can think of.) Just unforgettable gaming experiences, and if you missed them first time round then this is your chance to rectify that oversight.
