Playing DS on a 3DS is less than ideal
Mar 9th 2011 4:17PM (Joystiq)There are always tradeoffs with backwards compatibility. Like how the GBA lacked the ir port, or the DS lacked the link cable. The point of it is so you can continue to play your old games without having to have 30 consoles hooked up at once or in your pocket. I personally never get rid of my old consoles because I find they play best on the original hardware, but that doesn't mean I don't take advantage of bc in newer consoles.
The point addressed in this video is a nonissue though. We are used to upscaling in old games these days. In fact, the SuperGB and GBA Player were designed specifically to take advantage of that fact.
Also, newer hybrid DS/3DS games are likely to come out that support the higher resolution when used on the 3DS. I believe Pokemon B/W already supports the 3D feature of the 3DS.

Also, there are still a couple of Circuit Citys that are still in business back east, so yeah...
