iPad app helps you understand US health care reform

Oct 16th 2010 11:40PM (TUAW.com)
Eh, everyone against health care reform is pretty much an easily manipulated pawn. The bill that was put together would have easily passed as recently as 2004-it's just the fact that we've become so partisan that it's controversial. Richard Nixon put together the exact same plan as "Obamacare" in 1972. Same with Bob Dole in 1996, and Mitt Romney in 2004. In fact, Eisenhower and Theodore Roosevelt-also Republicans wanted a vaguely similar plan. The bill decreases the deficit by 2.1 Trillion over 20 years-eliminates pre-existing conditions, lifetime caps, and recission. It gives a tax break to companies that provide health coverage and gives out subsidies to pay for it. It creates a marketplace where insurers can compete with each other. It digitizes health records saving us a bunch of money. It allows college students to stay on their parent's health care until their 26. It allows competition across state lines. It limits overhead costs spent by insurers. It triples funding to community health centers. It eliminates inefficiencies in Medicare. It cuts down on Medicare fraud. Insurers hiking up their rates are doing so in a political ploy-they're getting huge amounts of new customers-55 million which will increase their profits-but they need to blame health care reform and increase prices so that they will be deregulated by the Republicans.

Wii: last minute rumors [update 1]

Sep 13th 2006 6:51PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
ok....the wii will be launched in early november or late october, there will be 2 bundles, both come with the console obviously, 1 for $170 that comes with the remote, nunchuck, and the "classic" controller. A $250 dollar pack will be offered with 2 remotes and nunchucks, a classic contoller, wii sports, and a 256 MB or so SD memory card and maybe a couple virtual console "coins". Soo to recap, $170=4 things $250=9 things, think something like how the PSP is available in two forms or something like that and you got the wii....this is all a huge guess of course..lol..
