I am not sure the Kin update will blow our socks off. Keep in mind, if you are not a teen or 20-something who only cares about texting and sharing pictures this phone will not "wow" you.

Sounds like you are making a big deal out of nothing. I've been caught like this before. Lost some photoshop files this way. But the solution is, as you say, change the update settings.

Most people have pissed and moaned about those popups being overly intrusive. So MS did the right thing to reduce that. And you are saying you would rather be annoyed???

Putting money to good use of course! I see no shame in doing this. If this is what it takes to help close the gap, then do it. Windows Phone 7 is the closest thing to the iPhone in terms of user experience and quality.
