Rumor: Interactive Mass Effect comic will fill in players of PS3 Mass Effect 2

Nov 7th 2010 3:47PM (Joystiq)
Wow thats nice. Know what would have been even nicer? Mass Effect 1 on PS3.

I'm sure the masses will lap this up, OMG we're getting an exclusive mission and an interactive comic. Bioware is going above and beyond to make sure we can ease ourselves into the series. If they really gave a shet they'd give us a port of the first game. Until that happens i have 0 interest in playing this series.

PSA: PS3 Firmware Update 3.15 available now

Dec 10th 2009 8:01AM (Joystiq)
Ironically this firmware update did NOT brick my PS3.

Trying to get into this story from the main page through my PS3 browser DID cause my PS3 to crash 2x.

I swear between this site crashing my PS3 and the lack of being able to stay logged in so i don't have to enter my email and PW everytime to post, joystiq has the unfriendliest browsing and commenting system around. GG joystiq

PSA: PS3 Firmware Update 3.15 available now

They're useless because for some reason a few developers lock the game saves to your specific PS3. Like i said, mine were saved to a memory stick (the old 60s had the card readers in them), when i got my new slim i used a USB card reader and transferred all of my PS3 saves (originally created on my YLOD 60 GB), when i tried to continue a few of the saves they gave me a corrupted data message. I know for a fact they weren't corrupted because i'd used an .sfv program to check the CRCs when they were originally created and the CRCs matched at the time i tried to tranfer them.

If your PS3 were to die, there's a chance that some of your saves would be locked to your original PS3. So when you replaced the PS3, the saves would be useless to you since you'd be unable to use this ethernet transfer method since your original PS3 would be dead.

Like the BT update as my controllers and remote sometimes on sync when i turn on my PS3.

The transferring of game saves is a nice start but still SEVERELY lacking since it doesn't alleviate the other major reason that people are forced to tranfer game saves, DEAD PS3s. I had a launch 60 that got the YLOD and i thought i was at least a little fortunate since i had my game saves backed up to a memory stick. Fat load of good that did since half of them were useless when tried to use them on the slim i replaced the 60 with. Can't even describe the rage i'm gonna have if i ever lose a game save for some JRPG that i sunk 100+ hours into.

Yakuza 3 heads west in March 2010

Dec 8th 2009 5:02PM (Joystiq)
YES! Been waiting on this announcement forever. I'll definitely be buying day 1.

Bad thing is Sega is releasing this game at the worst possible time. March already has 2 blockbusters at the beginning (FFXIII) and the end (GoWIII) of the month. If they were smart Sega would have released during a dead period w/ no competition. Unfortunately as it stands now, Yakuza 3 will probably flop horribly like 2 did. Sucks since the sales of 3 will determine the fate of a possible Kenzan and Yakuza 4 localization.

Grand Theft Auto franchise may have 'peaked,' according to analyst

Dec 7th 2009 6:14PM (Joystiq)
I really hope the moneyhats developers receive for "timed" exclusives and exclusive DLC are worth it because there is no way to piss off your fanbase more than w/ those 2 practices. I won't ever purchase a game that's qualifies for either category unless in the case of timed exclusives the developer adds in significant content making the delay worth it or unless they put a ton of spit shine on a game improving it from the original.

As for GTA, i only own a PS3 and a PSP so releasing GTAIV w/ exclusive DLC for X360 = no sale (rented 1x and borrowed from a friend 2 years later) and giving me a port of a DS game = no sale. If i think something is bull sh!t, i speak with my wallet and i did on these games. Maybe Rockstar noticed more sluggish sales maybe they didn't, the analysts did though so it's small win at any rate.

Marvelous lost money on most of its Wii releases

Nov 19th 2009 7:32PM (Joystiq)
"To the morons that want to play these games:

HELLOOOO? If you want to play these games you should just go over to your local retailer and purchase them along with a wii.

That is all."

I totally agree other than the fact that i have no interest in swinging around a controller or any of the Nintendo franchises. Oh wait, guess i don't agree and find your reply utterly moronic since nothing about the Wii outside of these Marvelous games interests me.

These games flopping on the Wii is fantastic. Hopefully its a wakeup call so that in the future they just hold onto the high res assets and downscale them for Wii since they'll be doing eventual higher res ports for the PS3/360. Would certainly save them some money since there's no way they'll ever make any money releasing Wii only games. Can't wait to see how poorly NMH2 ends up flopping so hopefully they come to their senses.

Bring on the vote downs from all the N-bots
