Hmm i'm not sure if it's me or not but i think you have got it wrong Joystiq this isn't a Blue Ray disc at all.
The only reference to Blu-Ray is where they say "for the first time in the world*1. Its per-layer capacity is 25 gigabytes, which is the same as that of a Blu-ray Disc "

So i think you have got it wrong and it is just an optical dvd disc that has the ability to be compatible with Blu-Ray. So better change it my friend :)

Sony has pretty much lost with the PS3 this generation in USA and Japan. The Wii has just creamed it. In USA it is getting killed by 360. 5m compared to 12m. Is Sony realisticly going to be able to make up that 7m difference within say the next 5 years? Not until it starts getting clear distance in the monthly sales and right now the PS3 sells about 10k max more a month then the 360. 10k a month times 12 months = 120k a year. You don't have to be good at maths to realise it will take a long long long time for Sony to claw back into the contest with those numbers.

The one good thing for Sony is europe. Excluding UK the PS3 has done ok compared to 360 but in UK 360 has it. So i think whoever said PS3 was catching up to the Wii was probably smoking on the Sony pipe. That is a pretty awful news piece.

Personally i think MGS4 is just like Halo 3 in that it's a good game but nowhere near as good as the hype suggests. Reading reviews these days the only one i trust is eurogamer and having now completed MGS4 their review is the most honest. Gamespot and IGN etc.. might aswell have their names changed to "We give games a 10 score because we are paid by them in sponsorship", they are now just like reading the offical magazines that give everything full marks just for being exclusive. MGO sucks and you know it. A few months later and this game will just be used by PS3 fanboys to defend the consoles lack of titles.

Shame they forgot to mention the blu-ray 5gb installs :P

Okay maybe i'm simple or something but how does 2m extra copies sold on the 360 = Sony win? How does having a ratio of 2 sales on the 360 to every 1 on the PS3 = Sony win? I'm somewhat confused here. Surely the bigger number = win?

The fact the PS3 is only outselling the PS3 by 20-40k is a blow to Sony not Microsoft. The 360 has been out a year longer and is still staying close to it. When a console gets to near enough 3 years you would expect the numbers to start to go down. But they are not. They are actually increasing month to month. What matters is the big numbers that you get from the holidays etc.. MS posted a difference of over 1m consoles over the PS3 the past xmas. MS can afford to have the PS3 have the 1st spot but 20-40k a month up until the festive period. This is when MS have their exclusives of the year out. I would expect the 360 to trounce the PS3 again this xmas which makes the tiny difference in monthly sales hurt PS3 more.

Michael Pachter is awful at predicting this stuff. He predicted the PS3 would sell 150k more then the 360 a few months back and the actual figure was 360 beat it by something like 10k. The man is a joke.

Wow that looks really crap. I love MGS and is the only reason i have a PS3. But come on that lookslike something from before the cs source generation. The chars move like robots. Very dissapointing.

To me i think the hype is coming from PS3 owners not from Sony or from the things Sony has done. It parallels last year bigtime where everyone says that Sony will be the king etc.. The problem is as the months go by and the games come out they generally get mixed reviews with a lot getting poor responses i.e Lair/Heavenly Sword. By the end of 2008 i expect the Wii to be miles clear and the 360 miles ahead of the PS3. As i said 2008 seems spookily like 2007 where the PS3 makes some progress due to the "buzz" then gradually falls away. About 5 new 360 games were announced this week Prey2/Redemption etc.. and were not even at e3 yet at which Nintendo will release their line-up. Games sell games consoles and i think all it takes is one game from Sonys titles to go wrong for this race to be over. The thing that keeps Sony fanboys going is "wait till xyz comes out" If xyz comes out and isn't good then you have a repeat of 2007.
