Get a golden nunchuck to go with your golden Wiimote from Japan's Club Nintendo

Dec 14th 2011 3:30PM (Joystiq)
Hey, I don't see any gold nunchucks, but it does look like you can buy downloadable Wii and 3DS games with your coins now. That must be fairly new, since I was just on the site last week or something and they weren't there...

For 100 or 150 coins each, they have:
Super Mario Kart - Wii
Fluidity - Wii
3D Classics: Xevious - 3DS
Mario VS Donkey Kong: Minis March Again - 3DS

It's better that way, anyway. If you donate, they get your whole donation. If they charged for the game, Apple would take a 30% cut. Kinda puts a damper on charity games.

Disclaimer: I have no idea.

If I were to guess, maybe it's because they wanted to tighten up their security a bit before announcing to the world (read: hackers) that they're vulnerable enough to be hacked.

It's a stylish, retro, metroidvania-type platformer that was made by a single indie developer over 5 years, and released for free for PCs. I think it gets a lot of attention partly because it's creator, Daisuke Amaya (aka Pixel), is awesome for freely sharing something he worked so hard on, and partly because Cave Story is an awesome game. Non-linear gameplay, innovative combat, great graphics and music, deep story, multiple endings, secret dungeons and bosses...

I love Cave Story :)

iPhone Street Fighter IV on sale for $0.99, sales go to earthquake relief

You're right, I shouldn't have been so quick to say that haven't donated... And what they did for their employees was really nice... But still, if people are buying these apps just to donate, then 30% of their donation goes to Apple. Whether or not they're doing nice things besides, that's a little off-putting to me.

Capcom isn't the only one doing this, and if all these developers get a huge sale boost, that could mean Apple making a ridiculous profit off of this disaster. I, personally, would feel more comfortable donating via app purchases if they would come out and donate their 30% too.

I guess I'm just saying that if you wanted the app anyway, then great. But if you just want to donate, it would do more good to take your donation elsewhere.

That's what I figured... It's kind of annoying, really. Here Capcom (and dozens of other devs) is doing something nice, they get nothing out of it (except the good PR, of course) and it's lining Apple's pockets.

Probably better to donate directly if you don't really want the game. Just tell all your friends that Capcom inspired you. :)

... Actually, the more I think about it, it's sickening. If Capcom raises $1,000,000, Apple gets $300,000 of our donations. And a quick Google search tells me that Apple hasn't donated ANYthing, so far.
