TopWare games takes 50 percent, a load off on GoG
Feb 13th 2012 3:00PM (Joystiq)I bought Two Worlds when this sale started because I had never played it and had heard that if you get into it it can be pretty good, and I tried. I honestly tried. I couldn't play it for more than 3 hours, the last hour was literally me going out of my way to find something redeemable about the game. I went out towards the very first sidequest the game gives out and when I reached the destination it was night time and a "ghost spirit" or some crap 2 shot me. The voice acting was horrid. It didn't tell me how to change the abilities that were set on the hotkeys or how to change what spell was set to right click. I honestly think dropping that 5 dollars on the ground would have been more productive because atleast whoever picked it up wouldn't have spent it on Two Worlds.
Blizzard taking Valve to court over 'DOTA' trademark
Feb 10th 2012 3:15PM (Joystiq)The issue is that the name means a lot in this case, as it shows both nostalgia and that it means to be the "true" successor to DotA. If they have Eul and Icefrog on board then they have every right to continue using that name and since this game will be stand-alone and not a mod it only makes sense that they take ownership of its name if they choose to branch out with it. Guinsoo went to make a new game in many different ways just using the DotA concept as a stepping stone, so it would make sense that they don't make use of its name. Blizzard wanting to "keep it in the community" however is both a meaningless phrase and an empty one because they just don't want Dota 2 to interfere with the future of their Blizzard DOTA and they'd likely move to make money off the title in the future, if Blizzard has shown one thing in their company's history up to this point its that they are willing to try to squeeze money out of just about anything they can despite their words in the past.
WoW loses another 100,000 subscribers
Feb 10th 2012 4:03AM (Massively)I think the problem is that they haven't been important in a long time, this was just the best way to make them more customizable and interesting. For a long time now specs have just been pretty much the same all around with one or two points up for grabs so they figured they'd just give you all that monotonous stuff just for leveling and give you something interesting for talents in the way of abilities that can be changed nearly on the fly to suit different situations you may find yourself in. Don't get me wrong I'm not big into WoW anymore, I finally got drained off enjoyment from it during 4.1, but I can understand their direction with the talents.
38 Studios head Curt Schilling elaborates on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning online pass quest lockout
Feb 1st 2012 3:54PM (Joystiq)Bottom line is: if you want to buy it used then buy it used and if you like what you play and want what you missed then buy the dlc on its own and you most likely won't have spent anymore than someone who bought the game new and you still get the full game. No one loses in that scenario. People who buy it new get their game, people who buy used get the full game, and the developer gets atleast some money from you via the DLC.
Now Playing: January 30 - February 5, 2012
Jan 30th 2012 9:15PM (Joystiq)From the look of current affairs it seems that Xenoblade Chronicles could end up be the last Wii game I buy...ever. Granted there's always the chance for something special to pop up.

Jan 30th 2012 2:58PM (Joystiq)The code is a reward for supporting them, if you don't support them by buying it new then don't complain you don't get the code, it's that simple. It's ridiculous to say "I deserve to get the full benefit of someone who supported the studio and paid full price even though I waited a few months and then deliberately bought a copy that they don't get proceeds from." If you don't have money for a new copy then that sucks I know but that doesn't mean you get to complain about not getting 100% of a game that you didn't pay 100% of the price for.

Jan 29th 2012 2:48PM (Joystiq)No one is saying you can't get anything second hand, they're just saying if you do you'll get 90% of the game instead of 100%. No offense but if you're paying less to "try it out" then don't complain that you're getting less.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 review: Fixing the past
Jan 28th 2012 6:19PM (Joystiq)Yeah I get your point. I'd love to see a combination of old and new. Like the graphics, fast paced nature, and a different take on the FFXIII battle system combined with the expansive, changing world of FFVI.
