MLB 12: The Show (PS3, PS Vita) review: Ahead in the count

Mar 29th 2012 9:21PM (Joystiq)
The game deserves 5 stars. It's an improvement over a virtually perfect previous game, plus a few elements and tweaks (analog pitching, analog field throwing, analog batting) that have really balanced out. Although by and large, no major additions to the game, but it's better than MLB The Show 11.

It's really too bad that X-Box 360 fans can't play a good baseball game. I play my 360 10x more than my PS3, except for when MLB The show comes out each year.

@shedi football No, not with MLB he Show.

You can play your RTTS character on your Vita or your franchise on your vita, and vice versa, but two people cannot play agains each other, one on PS3, one on Vita.

@TRONdll I'll add.. I think I got like 40ish hours out of SP the last two AC games. WHich is a lot to be said for a game that is admittedly pretty formulaic.

@dakoe3 If it came out last week, but because it's coming out in... 6+ months, probably not.

Wait.. wait.. did I just read that "Steam is the Wal*Mart of PC digital distribution?"

That analogy is so broken I don't even want to count the ways that it is. I should, but I don't want to.

Too bad, The Albatross Internet Viewing Standards requires that you make your videos ad-block compatible.

Good morning! Here's Herman Cain singing the Pokemon 2000: The Movie theme song

Herman Cain is awesome. I'd never want him as any serious political leader, but he's just awesome. If you don't like him, you need to lighten up and enjoy life.

Sort of disappointed that this just replaces the model with a ... sort of accurate T-1. I mean, way above my level of modelling, but article seems.. inflated?

EA claims First Amendment protections against expected helicopter lawsuit

@KodyxDestroyer Need For Speed choses to use licensed cars because it's a more effective way to market the game. Other prominent racing games, like Burnout in the past, have not used licensed cars because it's not important to them and the developers wanted the freedom to do what they would with the cars. The cars still look like race cars, and I'm sure that there are a few that look almost exactly like popular race cars, or enough to say that there is a likeness.

But, make no mistake, in the NFS series, Forza, GT, and others, the publishers want to license cars because it's an important way to sell the game.
