Actually the figures for total sales (as in products in the hands of customers) at the end of July for the US was 5,563,072 for the DS and 4,874,872 for the PSP (both figures included all sales from launch of each console, and the DS figures include Lite and Phat). I'm not sure where you got that "1.2 million MORE PSP's in USA" :/ Unless of course you're comparing PSP's shipped to the US against the DS sales at retail - but you wouldn't do that what with you being not being a fanboy and being so fair.
No, it doesn't use DX at all. Instead it uses a modified OpenGL. The result being that games (edging photo-realistic quality) like Crysis will be easier to port to the 360 using its DX9.5 (for want of a better label), but it will be possible for both to run such games but they just won't look as good as their PC counterparts - in little under twelve months from now, what did Sony say about future proofing?
Not too much on that list that will make we want a PS3 this year, with DMC3 (which we oun't see this year anyway) and Heavenly Sword for me being the pick of the bunch. As far as home consoles go I'm more then happy with my 360, PC, and PS2 (there are more PS2 games that I want due for release soon then games I have interest in the PS3 so far :/), and I'll be as near to the front of my local GAMEs queue to get my sticky mits on a Wii as I possibly can. I'm not interested in HD movies (I play my 360 in high def using a VGA lead) so for me the asking price is too high for what they're offering ( and no I don't buy into all that future proofing guff, when by this time next year my PC will be able to easily out perform the 360 and PS3 with its spanking new DX10 card and nobody really know the outcome of the HD format war). I will get a PS3, but certainly not this or next year whilst the price is higher then the value I'd get out of it.
Oh look I haven't fellated Sony I must be a *insert your company of choice* fanboy.
[sarcasm]Genius advice!![/sarcasm], if everybody waited for games to be half price then the industry would be destroyed. I take that stance that only I only pay full price on the exceptional games, and the good to mediocre stuff I then wait till they're cheap.
Just watched the hi-res video at IGN, and it looks pretty good; it's certainly not going to get any beauty awards but it's certainly not ugly. I don't think the person holding that controller is actually playing the game for two reasons, firstly all of the over sensitivity reports from E3 and secondly if it was that unresponsive then the skater would be constantly crashing. Whether or not this will be a great addition to the Wii catalogue or just a Wii game with Wiimote controlls tacked on for the sake of it (in the same way that the majority of third party games for the DS started off as) only time will tell. I can say one thing though from watching the video I'd certainly like to have a go and find out for myself.
It's a remake, it has different characters (thus the inconsequential story will change), and new surgery techniques (fixing broken bones and heart surgery), and new missions, and added different difficulties. They've redone the game, enhanced it for the different console, and added new features.
In the same way that Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes and Resident Evil on the Gamecube were remakes.
A port would be like Resident Evil2, Nemesis, and veronica on the Gamecube - which were identical in every way to the version released on previous consoles.
Somebody please link me to a quote from Nintendo which states they won't except the crack for a replacement/fix under its warranty (other then stupid arsed assumptions based on a brand damage limitation statement, which doesn't say anything about not replacing units but just clarifies there's not a problem with the overall product quality)Arggghh *starts banging head on wall*
"as long as it dosen't effect my gameplay" isn't good enough, as a consumer we have rights. Which is why they will replace the unit 'free' (as per the twelve month warranty that comes with it).
Are people taking stupid pills over this? What more do people want then their unit replaced??!
Why should they acknowledge there's a major problem with the Lite?! As long as they replace any units with the crack with a new unit, then what more can they do? If I'm unlucky enough for mine to develop a crack in the hinge cover, then I'll just go and get it exchanged from the retailer where I bought it from, failing that contact Nintendo and organise a replacement or repair.
