Nintendo expects Mom to leave notes on your Wii

Oct 2nd 2006 12:20PM (Joystiq)
I see no problems with leaving notes for my sons on the Wii. It will probablly be the first thing they check when they get home. Just to see if anything happened while they were at school. If I can text message them while I'm out even better.

I leave notes for my husband on the iMac all the time. It's a lot faster then leaving a note. I have to find a pen (that works), then find papper and then write it.

Valad, was this needed in your article? It's insulting.

"Tommy's looking for ice cream. Being a smart little blighter, he checks his console first? Not. The pudgy little bastard will run straight to the fridge (or freezer), where such things are normally kept."

Hey Nintendo, make the switch to paper boxes permanent!

The larger game cases don't only allow the cases to fight for attention on the disply shelf but also thieving. :P

I perfer the plastic cases for multiple reasons already stated but the one that hasn't been brought up, used games. I have been buying more used DS games because of the plastic cases. They are cheaper then the new games and usually in the same condition. I bought very little used GBA games because very few of them came with the manuals and the cartidges were in poor condition. If there's more people buying used games instead of new there's less of a need to manufacture new games which lowers the cost to the enviroment for manufacturing, packaging and shipping.

As a side note milk does come in bags in Canada but just in certain Provinces but you can also buy it in cartons.

Business Week examines Nintendo's Wii strategy

Re: allegiance icons, they are coming very soon in the form of Joystiq blogger bios that will state what potential conflicts of interest and bias any given blogger has. You can currently browse posts by the author (just click on their name) to follow writers you particularly enjoy.

Thank you Blake.

That's a great idea. I lost some confidence in one of your writer's abilty to be unbiased after I had heard he spent the summer working for Microsoft. Having this sort of information about the writter's will be helpful to your readers.

I do hope in the future when articles's need to be written about a specific company maybe someone with no bias or conflict of interested can be chosen to write the articles.

Super Columbine Massacre RPG creator interview

I just want to clarify some information for anyone reading this who does not know what The Sun and Canoe, which both are owned by Quebecor.

Canoe is not a television network it is a web based information site.

The Sun's biggest selling point is their pinup Girls in bikini's then the actual sensationalized "news" stories contained within the paper.

Penny Arcade responds to our "hideous editorial," misses the point [update 1]

I don't think the agument works because if the Company that is subsidizing the console for a cheaper price they usually over charge for the accessories and games to make back the money they lost.

Also Valdimir, have you responded to Cheapy D's Cheapassgamer.com podcast number 43, you should listen to it around the 51 minute mark because he said you worked at Microsoft this summer.

Critiquing Nintendo's Wii launch details

Sep 14th 2006 3:14PM (Joystiq)
The Price of the system: The price is a bit too high for me but it will go down there are always sales and some stores will throw in a free game after Christmas.

The controller and Nunchuck should be cheaper, $60 is too much. I'll be looking at Cheapassgamer.com for 20% off accessories sale.

Virtual Console Games are priced right. If I don't think a game is worth $5, I probably won't spend my limited gaming time playing it anyway. But there are some SNES games that are worth the price. Mario RPG, Earthbound and Super Metroid for $7, I'll pay it!

Photo system: I have a Canon Rebel XT and at 8MP the photo's are only 3.8 MB, 512MB should be more then enough to play around wth them.

November 19: Just the fact they have units for people to buy in stores should give them enough exposer in the media. Oh, and the fact it doesn't cost $500-$600. The Main stream news reports will start with stories about PS3 limited stock, High Prices, Ebay Going nuts...but they will end with But Nintendo has X amount of units in North America for $250 and launches this Sunday.

U.S. Nintendo presser somewhat-liveblogging [update 8]

Sep 14th 2006 10:13AM (Joystiq)
Was the $250 price confirmed for North and Sounth America or just US?

Other news sites are saying Reggie was talking about the Americas for the November 19th release date not just the US.

USA Today confirms U.S. Wii price, date

Sep 14th 2006 9:37AM (Joystiq)
Fair price with the Wii sports pack in.
Did Reggie say that was the price in the Americas or the US? Because if $250 is the price for all of North and South America that is excelent! I live in Canada and was expecting $279 price tag.
