Tough Love Inspired Melissa to Lose 70 Pounds

Apr 4th 2011 12:43PM (That's Fit)
5'2' and 155 pounds is NOT necessarily fat. It depends on the person and their body structure. I'm 5'3", and my highest weight was 161, and I might have been chubby, but certainly not fat. I never eat for comfort. In fact, I have a digestive condition that frequently makes me lose my appetite. I avoid fatty foods because I can't digest them and they cause me a lot of pain, to the point that just I have an aversion to just looking at rich desserts. I've since lost 11 pounds not through a diet or any effort, just from the condition. My top priority isn't being thin; it's avoiding abdominal pain. The women in my father's family are all chubby but not obese, and it has not affected their longevity, as many have lived well into their 80s and one to 95. Some people are just built to weigh more. As for that guy, I wouldn't have waited for him to leave. I would have booted him out the door that second, good riddance to bad rubbish. No one insults me and then attributes it to love.

Tough Love Inspired Melissa to Lose 70 Pounds

Whoever said that "not old, not cute" bit may have helped you with the weight, but they're an idiot, and they're dead wrong. A person can be over 40 and both young and cute. It's all a matter of how one moves, acts, dresses, etc. Calling you old was just plain vicious. People today live into their 80s, 90s, and beyond, and if 40 is "old," that means many people literally spend half their lives being "old." It's garbage. I'm older than you, and as an actress, the image I cultivate is young and cute. I know people in their 70s who are totally into the youth thing; they work out regularly, swim laps, hike, and are anything but old. That commenter can go to hell.

Royal April Fool's Joke: Seats to William and Kate's Wedding for Sale

Lady Gaga would easily upstage Schmate. At least she's done something with her life and has talent. Schmate is a nobody and has nothing to offer.

Brooke Shields Replacing Bebe Neuwirth on Broadway

Apr 3rd 2011 12:22AM (PopEater)
Shields is not a star and does NOT belong on Broadway, not now, not over. She has absolutely NO talent. Everyone should BOYCOTT, BOYCOTT, BOYCOTT this show until the part of Morticia is given to a real actress. Shields should be working in a mailroom at minimum wage so one of the many talented NYC actresses can do justice to this role. Height means nothing if you're an empty shell. And she's not even attractive unless you like women who look like men in drag.

Lindsay Lohan's Betty Ford 911 Call Released

Apr 2nd 2011 1:05PM (PopEater)
Zero, what makes you think Lindsay's a "star" and you and everyone else are "nobodies?" Ever consider that maybe you've been brainwashed? Lindsay is a walking bottle, nothing more, nothing less. Drunks are a dime a dozen. And I would rather drink plutonium that consider myself a nobody.

Women Are Increasingly 'Marrying Up'

Mar 28th 2011 11:30PM (Asylum)
"Marrying up?" Why are you still using terms that belong in the 16th century? A female PhD in astronomy used this term to try to diss me, and in complete unprofessional mode, argued that a male astronomer's wife (who is not an astronomer herself) is more "up" than I am. Unlike the wife, am an astronomer, and I want nothing to do with that male. In fact, I have no interest in marrying at all. We are all equal, and there is no such thing as marrying "up" or "down" unless someone is looking to build a bridge to the 16th century.

Carol Alt: Can a Woman Over 40 Be a Model?

Mar 13th 2011 4:58PM (Stylelist (Main))
Blame the industry for the same idiocy that says only size 0 is beautiful when very few people, even 18-year-olds, are naturally that small. One of the worst offenders is columnist "Secret Agent Man" who publishes a column on the back of the acting industry's trade newspaper "Backstage." "SAM," as he is called, is an agent who does not identify himself, but brags about how his 10 years on the job have shown him that over 35 is too old to start an acting career, especially for women. This bigot loves to harp on the age thing over and over again. When he talks about whether he as an agent ever signed anyone from a paid actors' workshop, he proudly says he signed only one person out of 19 workshops, and she was "22 and gorgeous. Get it?" Talent does not even enter his picture, and we're talking about acting! On and on, week after week, he spews his negativity about aging actresses hanging on to "a dream of stardom that can never be." How does he know? Maybe he would do better as a psychic. Right now, he is an enabler of the worst in the industry, and he is projecting his own biases onto the entire industry, which is wrong on so many levels. "Backstage" is supposed to offer positive advice and yes, hope, for performers, not this steady dose of negativity. As an actress myself, who as a character type really isn't limited by age, I hope actors who read his column take it with a whole ocean of salt and realize there are plenty of people in the industry who don't think that way. It's a few bad ones that spread their bigotry and make the whole industry look bad.

The only time it's too late to start a successful acting career and go for stardom is when you're dead.

Hey, DiForever, who cares what Schmate does or does not have? You want to watch a princess get married--rent a Disney movie. The point about Lady Gaga is that she achieved everything she has through her own efforts and talent. What has Schmate done with her life; what talents does she have? The bigger point is monarchy is archaic and should be abolished from the face of this planet. And I bet you all the tea in China my IQ and Lady Gaga's IQ are higher than Schmate's.
