European Nintendo downloads: Starship Patrol, A Boy and His Blob, Eat! Fat! FIGHT!

Dec 19th 2009 4:54PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I was thinking about that earlier and I don't think we'll see DSiVC until the DS2. Simply because the built-in storage space on the DSi probably doesn't have the room for more than a few GB games and fewer SNES or NES games, which would limit the profitability. Granted, some people, like you and I, would buy SD cards, but it took them so long to give the Wii some extra storage options I don't know that it's even crossed their minds. That doesn't stop me from wanting DSiVC though.

Rumor: Nvidia Tegra chip going into next-generation DS

Oct 15th 2009 4:16AM (Joystiq)
What about Okamiden? Either Zelda game? Castlevania: OoE? Dementium 2? Mario64 DS had some very impressive tech behind it, but a lot of developers are still hitting their stride.

Nintendo Power teases DSiWare announcement

I'm going to say it's got to be Ocarina of Time.

Except for all the reasons why it's not.

Demented new Dementium 2 screens

Well, he can carry a flashlight AND a knife at the same time. Your move, Doom 3. Your move.

In all seriousness, it looks awesome! An improvement over the original, and I already was impressed with those graphics.

Gamecock acquisition goes south - vendors accuse SouthPeak of not paying up

Any word on how this effects Dementium II? I really hope it doesn't...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized headed to DS

Aug 4th 2009 4:29AM (Joystiq)
I hope they include the Challenges like in WaW. Those kept me playing after I finished the main game. And I really really want footsteps in multiplayer, otherwise it's just so quiet.

Warlock of Firetop Mountain dev: 'big guys' not interested in DS-exclusive games

I'm glad someone picked it up, although I've never read the books I'm very interested in this game. It looks pretty awesome!

Renegade Kid working on platformer for DS

I will buy anything Renegade Kid puts on the DS. They have slight weaknesses, but the games are always Quality.

GTA: Chinatown Wars jacks more wallets, sells 74K in April

@required: It sounds like your criticisms of the DS are ones which were addressed in the Lite (and, I'd assume, the DSi). The top screen of the Lite is considerably lighter than that of the original model. And I don't know the numbers for the original, but the Lite can, from full charge, last for 2 weeks in sleep mode. I can assure you that GTA: CW does go to sleep when you close the lid. Consider too that the brightness of the Lite makes the screens far more attractive and less wearing on the eyes.

As for porting it to a different system, it would be ridiculous. The PSP games were ported so easily not because of a gameplay style, but an input style. The PSP controls are basically those from the PS controller, minus some buttons. The DS, on the other hand, relies on the touch screen in addition to traditional input. GTA makes significant use of the touch screen, something another console would be unable to replicate. The Wii would be ineffective too, because of the precision required to hot wire a car, for instance.

GTA: CW was designed from the ground up for the DS and because of that, it is the only system upon which it will truly work. The PSP games used a modified GTA3 engine and, like I said, used the PSP input. And come on, it's $20 now. You cannot go wrong picking it up.

Mr. Wong's Laundromat provides online money laundering for GTA Chinatown Wars

May 12th 2009 8:20PM (Joystiq)
It "underperformed" in March, I'm interested to see how it did in April (Maybe I missed that post?). And Mr. Wong's was announced before the game came out, so even if they're trying to create controversy it's not because of the sales figures.

#25 globally. Yes.
