when it comes to showing your videos to other people, a simple ambient soundtrack can make a not-so-good-video stand out by getting the viewers more into the mood... i understand what you mean about the breathing sound, it sort of enhances the feeling of "being there"... but most underwater documentaries have a soundtrack (even if minimal) along with the breathing sounds... guess there's a purpose to that...i first noticed the the power of ambient music when making photo slideshows... its a whole different experience watching the slideshow with no sound VS having a simple soundtrack, especially if you're showing it to someone else...
