Video: Sega Toys' Love Trainer says "the love making, will now begin" [update: it's a hoax!]

Jan 28th 2009 9:40PM (Engadget)
I think this is a hoax - the whois information on lovetrainer.com has it's contact information as a Russian privacy company

Plexidor's RFID-activated sliding doggie door: it's about time

That'd probably be because the implanted ID microchips are not designed for reading more than a few centimeters away.
The RFID chip that would go on your dog's collar is likely much larger so that it can capture enough energy to transmit up to a few meters

Emtec's gdium EM-PC laptop does not look like the Eee

May 22nd 2008 2:49AM (Engadget)
As a note - the only eeePC available at retail in Australia is the 4G Surf for $499 AUD, so this new mini-laptop is cheaper than the existing 7 inch eee

District attorney on trial for building monster gaming rig with state money

I was reminded of this Penny Arcade strip last night while working in a large government datacentre - one of the backup libraries looked pretty damn pimp with glowing blue lights...

Red Octane lets loose separate Wii Guitar Hero III controller

I had an issue with my whammy bar not working when I first played, but dismantling the guitar and putting it together fixed it up.

Red Octane lets loose separate Wii Guitar Hero III controller

The standalone Wii guitar is only just being released in the US?

It's been available since last year in Australia, a few weeks after launch.

I bought two game packs on special, and then sold the second copy of the game to a mate who bought two standalone guitars.

Wii FreeLoader gives you region-free gaming without the mods

With the US dollar getting so weak right now, this freeloader makes perfect financial sense.

living in Australia, if I buy 1 game at US$50, plus the freeloader for US$20, plus postage from play-asia at US$4, that comes out to AU$78.90. Add foreign currency conversion fee from the bank (I think it's 2%) and that's AU$80.50

RRP in Australia for Wii games is AU$99.90, so this represents a potential saving of around AU$20 on your first import purchase!

So how are you liking Ubuntu 7.10?

There's a thing called "Synaptic Package Manager" it's a nice GUI and all you should have needed to do to install almost any application was to find it's name in that, tick the tickbox and hit apply.
Installed via Synaptic also ensure that you receive security updates automatically for the package.
There is also the restricted driver manager which should have detected your nvidia card and prompted you to tick the tick box to install it.

The only real reason I got to the command line now is when I need to change my xorg.conf to switch between my TV or my Projector (still no way to swap between svideo or component, or even to select 720p or PAL-B from either the new x config tool, or from the nvidia driver)

Nokia and others launching "iPhone-like" gear by Q2 2008?

Oct 12th 2007 3:08AM (Engadget)
I would totally consider buying a Symbian S60 based iPhone style phone as it would be the most likely to interoperate with Ubuntu.

I would not however touch any Windows based phone with a 10 foot pole.

1 in 10,000+ chance is better than a 0 in 10,000+ chance :)
