Watch the Trailer for Showtime's 'The Borgias'

Dec 7th 2010 2:33PM (AOL TV)
I never saw "The Tudors" or any other period drama for that matter, but I might watch this. If only because after playing "Assassin's Creed II" and "Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood" I've become rather interested in the Borgia family's story.

'Smallville' Season 10, Episode 10 Recap

Dec 4th 2010 9:25PM (AOL TV)
@ Al

I think Patrick was talking about at the end of the episode Clark could have revealed he didn't have the same scar- earlier Bizarro-Tess mentioned he didn't have it which is how she knew he used the Mirror Box.

This episode was really great to me too. I'm one of those people that came back since this is the last season and had no idea who Tess was, but I definitely like her quite a lot now. The best part of this episode to me, though, was Clark waking up in Clark Luthor's bed.... with two other women. For Clark Luthor, pimping IS easy!

'Burn Notice' Season 4, Episode 13 Recap (Winter Season Premiere) (VIDEO)

Nov 12th 2010 6:09PM (AOL TV)
I have to say I disagree with a lot of this review. I understand a lot of people are sick of the "case of the week" style "Burn Notice" employs, but this episode kind of broke that pattern in a way. Michael was helping a "client" (the woman associated with one of the gang members Scott wanted revenge on), but it wasn't a stand alone because Scott was a previous client of his. The frustration Michael felt with Scott since the guy basically ignored the fact that his daughter was safe so he could gain revenge was potent. The problem with procedural shows is that the characters rarely feel to grow, but if you can create dynamic characters in a semi-procedural environment, then I don't see why we need to have the show switch focus and eliminate the case of the week element.

Especially as Michael's overarching storyline has change so drastically. It used to be "Figure out who burned me" and now it's "Stop these guys that are doing some really bad stuff with my and other burnt spies names'" or some such. Even after he decodes the list and knows exactly who burned him, his mission won't be close to finished.

But the most drastic difference in viewpoint I have is on Jesse killing Dennis. I think that was most definitely NOT something Michael would have done. Yes, he thanked Jesse for it afterward, but I think that was more of a "Thanks because I would not have been able to do it myself" than a thanks for blowing him up period. The fact that Sam and Fiona were beginning to make a plan to stop the police and/or get Dennis out without him suicide bombing at all makes me think they're in the same boat from having worked with Michael for so long (well, mostly Fiona, I'm betting Sam was always the kind of "boyscout" Michael is, avoiding killing others unless absolutely necessary).

This was definitely a better episode than I've seen "Burn Notice" have in a while, though.

'Rubicon' Canceled By AMC After One Season

Nov 11th 2010 3:14PM (AOL TV)
Wow, can't believe this show got cancelled. The season finale was pretty weak, but I thought the first season as a whole had potential.

'Psych' Season 5, Episode 10 Recap (Winter Season Premiere)

Nov 11th 2010 3:12PM (AOL TV)
Er... Shawn promotes himself to every prospective client as a psychic detective and he still maintains to anyone other than Gus and his dad that his clues come from "visions", "speaking with the dead", or other remote viewing activities. I don't know how much more on topic you could be.

The show's title could also refer to the name of the agency Shawn and Gus run now, but if they did rename it, I prefer "Ovaltine Jenkins and Friends".

'Chuck' Season 4, Episode 5 Recap

Oct 23rd 2010 4:56PM (AOL TV)
When Chuck came up with the funeral idea, I was seriously expecting him to do a "Lost" reference and explain it by saying "You're gonna have to die, John" a la Richard Alpert to John Locke.

'Rubicon' Spy-Themed Giveaway

Oct 14th 2010 3:23PM (AOL TV)
I'm not sure if it's really a spy-thriller but "Burn Notice" definitely has a spy theme to it.

'Hung' Season 2, Episode 9 Recap

Aug 31st 2010 12:12AM (AOL TV)
I think you nailed it on the head in regards to "Hung" and its problem finding an audience that appreciates it. It's billed as a comedy, but it is much more dramatic much of the time. That being said, it stilled moved too slowly for me up until these last two or three episodes. Now I'm just hoping Tanya gets her act together since she's basically the one causing ALL of her own and Ray's problems. I was surprised Charley put up with her for so long since she was really doing nothing favorable to anyone. She's even been screwing Mike over and he barely knows her!

But above all else, the episode was great for the first scene of Lenore walking through the school building. Rebecca Creskoff is simply stunning.

'White Collar' - 'Prisoner's Dilemma' Recap

Aug 25th 2010 4:07PM (AOL TV)
Marsha Thompson is British in real life, and her American accent was awful for the first episode, so you're probably thinking of that, don't think Diana's ever pulled an accent though.

And speaking of semi-regular and regular cast members... Poor Shariff Atkins- he appears in probably every episode (he's definitely appeared at least as much as Diana) yet is still billed as guest-starring. When is Jones going to get an episode?

Point/Counterpoint: Is It Time to Pull the Plug on 'Psych'?

Aug 4th 2010 6:26PM (AOL TV)
The only thing I think Psych has been losing it on is the mysteries. Which is why "Monk" should have died long before season 8 (or 9, whenever it acutally bit the bullet). Monk was always a show about this genius detective solving mysteries no one else could figure out because his psychology actually helped him in that one area. Not to go off on a tangent, but the last "Monk" mystery that gave anyone trouble was probably around season 5. When Monk began relying on comedy that wasn't funny as opposed to really exploring the character, that's when it became necessary for it to end.

"Psych" has thus far not done this. The characters are still fresh and ever evolving, both comedically and (much more apparent now than in the first, second or third season's) dramatically. Just look at last season's finale-- that episode truly raised the dramatic stakes to a level I didn't think "Psych" would ever manage, and yet they did and it's only gotten better since then.

I love a mystery show where the stand alone mystery is a little more difficult, but the fact that I can still watch this show purely independent of it fulfilling its genre (it doesn't NEED a great mystery every week, although the weeks that it knocks it out of the park with mystery and comedy and drama are the best) should say something for Psych's quality.

@ Hank,
I hope Yang's not his mom. I thought it was her back in the Mr. Yin episode and figured that she wasn't it until we learned Yang existed. I'm hoping the photo is a red herring.
