@Malkmus There are a lot of 3rd party chargers. She reverse engineered a Griffin charger so that she could make one of her own. She just didn't know what apparently everyone else already did.

iPhone OS is about the only good thing about the iPhone 3G. Jail-broken it smokes this ancient version of Android. Why bother? If you like Android get some better hardware to go with it.

@dec Even the most inexpensive Harmony remotes out today already do most of this. Especially the your second point about the girlfriend.

The other thing really new here is the overlay of video, which has it's own issues.

@Yota You're trying to tell me that the Xbox 360, the Tivo and other device will all talk to the GTV box over Wifi. No chance. They'll be using IR blasters. The only Wifi in that operation is from your phone to the GTV box. From there it's the same tech as today.

@Playos 1080p cannot be displayed on either device and consumes too many resources to be worthwhile. Cpu/Ram can't be compared head to head on these with any real meaning. iPad brings 802.11n and twice the battery life, so the specs start to look a lot more comparable depending on your needs.

@arkweld Laptops are mobile. Mobile devices need Wifi, stationary devices should be wired if at all possible for speed and reliability. Unless the Tivo is being used OTA only, the user likely has their cable router right next to it anyways.

Just think about what their sales could have been with support for more platforms.

@Delta Small is clearly a concern if you are traveling with a netbook. If you have enough space for this beast you can bring a real machine with a real keyboard.
