Final Fantasy XIII-2 review: Fixing the past
Jan 28th 2012 6:01PM (Joystiq)If they spent half the development time it took to make FFXIII/XIII-2/XIV on remaking FFVII, they could've been almost done by now.
Witcher 2 DLC free on PC, not on Xbox (for obvious reasons)
Sep 29th 2011 3:09AM (Joystiq)I always wondered why they didn't just patch the DLC into the game, like Criterion did with Burnout Paradise.
COD4 Star Wars mod 'Galactic Warfare' hits final release
Jul 5th 2011 9:30PM (Joystiq)I don't like Star Wars, Star Trek, Comic books, or really anything with a cult following like that, but hey, I'm here, aren't I?
And yes, I am an avid "core" gamer, too. And I practically comb this site for info everyday now, especially since the Joystiq for Android app came out.

Jul 5th 2011 1:14PM (Joystiq)Sony Japan: PSP Go shipments have ended
Apr 20th 2011 3:01PM (Joystiq)Exactly. That was the biggest issue the entire time, they were trying to market to new customers, instead of marketing to new customers AND respecting already existing customers who might've been looking for an upgrade.
That's like, when Sony announced the PS2 Slim, as if they would've said:
"It does everything the original does. Except it costs more. Oh, and there's a new format for the PS2 Slim, so if you wanna play games on it, you'll have to buy them again on the new format. And the old PS2 can use both formats. And no, you can't convert or trade your old formatted games for new ones. Oh, and the new format costs the original price of the game, and will probably stay that way. Also, not all games are going to be in the new format, and we can't promise you that they're going to be from now on, but all games WILL come out in the old format."
It was just one thing after another, after another. I mean, think about it: Why pay extra for a PSP GO when you can get a regular PSP, a memory card and the option for both UMD and the same downloadable games available for the Go? It makes no sense.
The saddest part is that I like the physical concept of the Go much more. If they just stuck the Go build and added a UMD port, I'm sold.

Oct 23rd 2010 11:58PM (Joystiq)Vanquish 'SDTV mode' enlarges text, icons, hopes
Sep 1st 2010 8:50AM (Joystiq)It's a recession. Most people are still living paycheck to paycheck. Maybe you're fortunate enough that $450 is nothing to you, but to the majority of the (now shrinking) middle class, that can be more than a single paycheck. Which, mind you, has to go to bills, food, and essentials things, instead of an HDTV which will probably crap out on you in a few years, whereas SDTVs are cheaper and can last considerably longer.
Not to mention for $450, you could buy a PS3 or 360 and a few games. I understand that current-gen games are designed for HDTVs, but SDTVs are still...well, the standard. So developers should keep that in mind. Gamers don't really have a choice when it comes to SD-designed games, because they are all on last generation platforms. All the content, major developers and overall support are on current-gen platforms.
Review: Mafia 2
Aug 23rd 2010 3:40PM (Joystiq)It looks like they didn't add grass or blood at all to the PS3 version. Look at the grass on the 360 version, at parts where there is no grass or it starts to fade, you can see the crappy flat texture you see on the PS3.
But if you watch the video, the 360's color looks a bit washed out. It's most evident when Vito is still in the house.
Then again, it's still only the demo. So who knows? That build can be months old for all we know.
