Do you live in San Francisco? Do you want to write for Engadget?
Jul 12th 2010 4:52PM (Engadget)This is one of the few articles I decided to read the comments... and all I get is rabble. I am relaxed, but I do worry that you will work yourselves up into frenzy again.
Android users for some reason still have a chip on their shoulders, when Google and Android are dominating the phone market.
Do you live in San Francisco? Do you want to write for Engadget?
Jul 12th 2010 3:19PM (Engadget)You people who spend time to claim an Engadget Apple bias are morons. And I use Android, but sheesh get over it. When half the comments are 'Engadget has a bias', it makes for uninteresting reading.
What killed the Kin?
Jun 30th 2010 9:11PM (Engadget)You ideas are like from a 2005 Bill Gates press conference. Sorry, there should be no more syncing with desktops, there should be syncing with the cloud. Waiting until you get home is fail. Google already does this.
Nexus One getting Android 2.2 FRF83 update over the air?
Jun 28th 2010 9:01PM (Engadget)I agree with you one hunid. I'm an Android user and I feel need to check some of you in my own community. To the whiny and complaining Android commentators, please step yo game up. There's no need to troll and b*tch in every article. You and I both know Google has won this war. They made a shrewd calculation back in 2007 to be the Microsoft of the mobile platform and supply the world with a 'free' mobile OS--and make their money on the back-end. Simply put, nearly every mobile OEM and Android will be better than a singular company producing a singular device. It will take a few iterations, but this is Windows/Mac all over again. I give props to Apple for kicking off this inflection point. I ain't gonna sit here in every article and trash them, when the very device I use owes its existence to them.
So Android users, stop with wimpering and conspiracy theorizing. You make me look bad.
iPhone 4 vs. EVO 4G... fight!
Jun 7th 2010 5:35PM (Engadget)Most of your points are not clear wins. I would say this to all the fan boys who are 'EVO FTW!' You will be paying an extra $10/month for 4G when it's not even available in most of the US (lame), is proven slower than t-mobile's 3G, and drains battery faster than 3G. Also, Wi-Max longevity is questionable with the convergence of LTE devices next year. Screen size and width is a matter of personal preference, since there is trade off in lugging around a wide phone. I'm a N1 user and would not at all consider switching to the EVO. Also, within 3-4 months, dual core snap dragons will hit other carriers, which will make the EVO...meh.
Anyways, let's be honest, the EVO and iPhones are more similar than dissimilar. Both have front facing camera, 1 ghz processors, app stores. I find it ironic that fanboys are so passionate (whiny like school children) about their chosen 'phones'. I'm sticking with Android, but I give props to Apple for carving out this product category and pushing forward the public thought. Also, if you complain about there being too many Apple stories, then click the apple stories and leave comments, you have generated income for Engaget--which is why they post Apple stories in the first place. It's like going to McDonald's and complaining there's nothing to healthy to eat there.
Steve Ballmer at D8: the video highlights (updated)
Jun 3rd 2010 7:54PM (Engadget)SteveAyo must have a bought a lot of stock in MSFT. I don't understand how someone could continue to keep his head in the sand. Only Mark Zuckerberg is worst at making their company's case than Steve Ballmer. In any case, there are bright points for Microsoft, just none was demonstrated during this interview. They are going to keep riding Silverlight and 'cross platform ubiquity' - even though there has been almost no uptake of Silverlight in the last 3 years. Plus, we are on the verge of HTML5 doing away with the need for browser plug-ins all together. It's like in anime, when the guy is been cut in half, but he doesn't know it yet.
Steve Ballmer at D8: the video highlights (updated)
Jun 3rd 2010 7:43PM (Engadget)An insightful comment on Engadget?! What are you doing here? I agree 100%. The video where Ray Ozzie basically shows up Steve Ballmer demonstrates the true cluelessness of Ballmer. Prediction: one year from now, Ray Ozzie will be running Microsoft.... perhaps with a COO or some other title to save face for Ballmer. First, though, we need need Ballmer's gung ho 'let's fix Mobile like we did Windows 7' approach to fail. I do not anticipate major uptake of WinMo 7, since MSFT has lost major OEM suppport to Android. They need to approach the mobile space as a disruptor, since they have no share to preserve. Execution is not enough.

Jun 3rd 2010 4:46AM (Engadget)You sir are a cheerleader. Everything is going according to plan for Microsoft, eh? They just fired the guys responsible for WinMo and Courier (also based on this OS) - and golden parachuted them into staying quite. The threat here isn't Apple, but Google assuming the role of OS supplier to traditional Microsoft OEMs. Android is more than capable of filling this niche. I suspect Microsoft will soon reboot their entire strategy, hence the 'letting go' of the head of their consumer division. To put it simply, they have been outmaneuvered... but that happened back in 2006-7. They are playing catchup when the OEM momentum is with Google. In fact, Google pays the OEM to use their software. We might see Toshiba and maybe Samsung do one courtesy CE tablet for Microsoft.

Jun 3rd 2010 4:28AM (Engadget)Great work!? They haven't shipped anything since winmo 6.5.3. By the time this ships, we will be 6 months into the onslaught of android tablets. The game is over - hardware vendors have already chosen. Why would OEMs build hardware (and software) against an OS that's not compatible with Win 7 or WinMo 7 and requires licensing fees? HTC, Asus, EeePC, and most top tier OEMs won't build this. Microsoft's strategy is horribly disjointed. They need to give their OS away for free and bundle services (like Google) or go the Apple route. Their's no market for $35 CE OS's that are closed.
What's surprising is the amount of attaboy's for a company that is imploding.
