Pikachu! Use Deafening Racket!

Jul 31st 2008 6:47PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
That had to be one of the most horribly annoying things I've ever seen/heard in my life.

Omigod - make it stop! :)

Prince of Persia creator to remake his first game

About freakin' time! I've been looking for Kareteka for a long time, even as a cell phone port. Looking forward to this.

Gamestop reveals Chrono Trigger date, price?

Jul 26th 2008 1:09PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I think gamers need to come to an agreement that they refuse to buy a direct port for $40 (although we all know that will never happen). The only reason Square is selling it for 40 bucks is that they know that people will buy it. Supply & demand...if the games doesn't sell well, they'll drop the price.

I'll probably wind up trying to grab a used copy further down the line, or getting the $17 PS1 version. I refuse to spend another $40 on a direct port DS game. Square already got me for FFT:A2, which is well produced game, but has some flaws (frustrating quests, idiotic NPCs, and the annoying Bazaar system) and really seems to limit you compared to the first game.

Anyway, the only way to get Square to stop overpricing is to stop buying their games. Unfortunately, we're spoiled as consumers and will buy things no matter what...look at the price of gas.

Secondary Ambition: Nobunaga no Yabou 2

Jul 18th 2008 5:00PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I've said it before and I'll say it again...the DS is the perfect format for games like Nobunga, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, etc. Hopefully we'll see something in the future, even if it's a toned-down version.

E308: Welcome to the Tecmo Bowl

Jul 18th 2008 4:08PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Gotta love the retro graphics. This game is the main reason I'm hanging onto my DS. I've been considering trading it in, but I gotta have my Tecmo Bowl!

E308: Populous DS revamps an enjoyable classic

Jul 16th 2008 6:10PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Nice - it's great to see games released that are perfect for the DS. I remember playing the original Populous back in the day, and it was a ton of fun. The chest-heaving animation when one of your 'peeps' won a battle was pretty funny. Hope that's included. It's also great to see new features on this one. Looks like it'll be tons of fun.

Two glorious minutes of Stafy action

Jul 15th 2008 5:11PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'm normally not a big fan of platform games, but this looks pretty cool.

I almost went into sugar shock from the cuteness factor though. I laughed out loud when I saw the dress-up part in the trailer.

Anyone know if this is definitely coming to the US?

Eleven seconds of Fire Emblem beats eleven seconds of anything else

Jul 12th 2008 4:52PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
No offense to anyone, but I think we're being a little too critical. Fire Emblem has always been about strategic gameplay, even more so when your characters actually 'die'. As long as the game has that basic strategy down, it'll appeal to fans of the franchise. It's been a good while since we've had a portable Fire
Emblem, and this is the first on the DS - so I'm excited. But I understand the complaints about the graphics on the 'next-gen' systems. They definitely could have done better. Maybe that's why everyone is worried about this version.

DS Fanswag: Space Invaders Extreme, Arkanoid, and a paddle to play 'em with

Rock Band w/ Wifi. They've already done Guitar Hero...

Pop Cutie struts its stuff

Jul 12th 2008 4:02PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Wow, I'm surprised to see this from Koei. A little outside their norm. I guess they're moving away from the 'Conquer Japan/China' genre to 'Conquer the pre-teen girl market'. Gotta give them credit for branching out, though even if the game kinda looks like The Sims on acid.
