Sony doesn't want to drop PS4 too long after Wii U and next Xbox
Nov 25th 2011 2:48PM (Joystiq)The ps2 had a 10 year + life cycle, but the ps3 came out after 6 years. Life cycle is simply how long they'll sell it/make games for it. Has nothing to do with when the next console is released.
Pachter: Xbox 360 outsold PS3 two-to-one in December; Nintendo reveals numbers
Jan 10th 2011 11:23PM (Joystiq)$130 for the new 4GB arcade version here in Canada on boxing day (day after Christmas, but sales similar to black Friday in the states). PS2 sells for 99.99...
I know, I know cost of games, live and other stuff in the long run may or may not offset the initial discount, but when the mainstream consumer looks at devices, that's almost all they see 90% of the time. Same thing with phones, the palm pre for instance launched in the states for 199.99 (after rebates) on sprint, and people said it was the same price as the iphone; Well, the iphone may have also cost 199.99, but sprints $69.99 could not be matched by AT&T. Or when the pre plus went to verizon, and shortly after it had it's price drop, people said "wow, sprint is riping people off, they are selling the pre for more, than verizon sells the pre plus for", without looking at the significant savings on the monthly plans. (no I'm not a "sprint fanboy", I've never used sprint, or any other american carrier.)

Jan 10th 2011 11:16PM (Joystiq)I do...
While I enjoy playing the games, I also enjoy knowing about the business side of things. When it comes to games, phones, laptops, TV's, cars, and even fridges; I'd like to know about the business side of things as much as possible, and if you aren't interested, it's one article once in a while, you could easily ignore them.
(alright, I don't actually care about fridges that much, although now that i think about it, it would be kind of interesting to know who dominates the market, what the gross, and operating profit margins are for different companies. Contrary to current popular belief, knowledge isn't a bad thing)
WiMAX 2 standard, and its theoretical 1Gbps downloads, to be finalized soon
Aug 15th 2010 2:53PM (Engadget)No way in hell they wouldn't limit 100Mbs. People would use that for their home internet to! downloading 500GBs a month. You know how much they'd have to charge for that?

Palm enabling webOS apps to interact with Universal Search, dock mode?
Aug 12th 2010 3:59PM (Engadget)I'm so pissed about that! I wanted that with web-os.. Webos' multitasking, notifications system, and gestures would of made it perfect for a psp phone. But sony went with the most popular choice, instead of the better one. (which makes sense, considering how badly "going for the best" screwed them over with the ps3)
I thought of that integration back when the pre was first announced.
webOS 1.4.5 finally coming today on Sprint? (update: it's out!)
