Cheap netbook sales bringing down laptop revenues, no brainers require no brains

Oct 11th 2009 8:26AM (Engadget)
Every one I know who has a netbook does not use it for a primary computer so they are not looking for something with lots of grunt. You have already given two good reasons why people choose them over a laptop: super mobile + £100 cheaper.

Now, I would agree with your argument if they were deciding between a netbook and fully featured laptop as a primary computer.

Microsoft multitouch mouse prototypes in action (video)

Brian - they are still awful regardless. Everyone at work uses either a Microsoft or Logitech mouse while the Apple mice sit on the shelf in the IT department.

Yep! I've always thought Sonys Walkman MP3 players sounded great.

Bunch of unreleased Nokias caught chatting amongst themselves

I'm hoping the E72 gets good reviews. I've owned the E71 since Jan and it has been the most robust and reliable phone I have owned.

I agree with other users that the Ovi store does need a kick up the backside to offer more apps.

I think the e72 looks good. A lot of products don't look good outside of press shots or until you see them up close and actually get a hands on. You also need to consider the feel or a product when in use - does it feel robust and reliable or cheap and flimsy?

Eizo 24-inch FlexScan S2433W-H debuts, inspires blank stares

I think your best bet is to try seen one up close. I've heard some mixed reviews about the Dell 2408WFP, I think that was mostly due to some of the early models being defective - an issue which has since been fixed. When I was looking for a monitor a few months ago it seemed to be the best of the bunch in that price range. I use an older 21" Eizo in work, I think its fantastic - if I could afford one Id definitely buy an Eizo.

iTunes 8.2.1 released: Update cripples Palm Pre sync

Jul 17th 2009 1:13PM (TUAW.com)
Sony and samsung players don't come with crap software, and have not for years. All the players I've had experience with simply mount as flash drives which allow you to drag n drop music without the need for any software.

However I'm trying Salling media sync which appears to work well (I've only been using it as of today).

Personally I would like to see more choice in music apps for OSX since the current alternatives to itunes are not great, this might also offer a solution for those of us who use OSX but prefer different media players/phones.

One of the big reasons I still boot into Windows is a program called Media Monkey which in my opinion is fantastic for managing music libraries.

Rumor Watch: Apple touchscreen netbook on tap for October

Jul 14th 2009 11:45AM (TUAW.com)
I'd be interested... but only if it uses a Wacom digitizer, has enough grunt to run Photoshop + Painter, and doesn't come with a mirror for a screen.

Yeah, I'll keep dreaming ;)
