Nike+ heart rate monitor tipped for June 1 launch

May 19th 2010 9:22AM (Engadget)
Curious to see what the price point is. Right now Adidas offers a similar pacer + heart rate monitor called the miCoach, but at a much steeper price ($140 MSRP). Nike has a much bigger installed userbase, and handles the "social" aspect of running & logging better, so if the price is competitive they may push Adidas out of that space.

Nook gets web browser, free in-store reading, and games in new firmware

Apr 23rd 2010 3:30PM (Engadget)
@providence I read almost exclusively PDFs on my nook, and am happy with it. It doesn't handle graphs/images very well though, it only wants to render those properly on the 'small' text setting which is both irritating and also not obvious at first. But for PDFs that are mostly text, it works great.

I generally find that the PDF source looks better than a Calibre converted EPUB from that same PDF, but it depends largely on the content.

Also, manga (which generally has smaller pages than a comic book) in .cbr format can be converted to EPUB in Calibre and looks great on the nook. Larger comics less so, as they get condensed too much.

'Breach' game code theft at PAX East ends in arrest [update]

It's definitely from PAX. That's my boyfriend and I standing blurrily to the left of the security officers.

DSi LL coming to Europe in Q1 2010 as 'DSi XL'

Oct 29th 2009 10:26AM (Joystiq)
I'm still cool with my DS Lite as well, but have been considering picking up one to give my mom for Christmas.

Since screen size is indeed an issue (yes, @David Black, she wears bifocals, laugh all you want) I'm going to wait until the XL is out here in the US.

It seems like a bad sales move on Nintendos part to announce something just before Christmas and then not pony it up until next year. If I hadn't heard about the XL I would have gotten the DS Lite, but now I'm going to wait. So hopefully they come through with it stateside in time for the holidays.

This might be funny if it was vaguely true. Sorry, does it bug you that I'm smarter than you *and* I've got tits? Tough shit.

A 'real' Katamari controller

I made a holder for it later, to keep it against the ball, but it didn't make it into the video.

It can do everything but the quick-flip. Haven't figured out a convenient way to implement a switch for that.
