Game store clerks risk all, speak out ... anonymously

Apr 5th 2007 1:32AM (Joystiq)
Really, you pricks have no idea. It's not ALL of the customers, that is just irresponsible reporting. They didn't mean to bring down EVERY single customer.

But EB and GameStop accepts cash trades, which in a lot of neighborhoods, brings in a lot of shitty people, ghetto people who smell like pot, have ratty clothes, and look like they just may rape you at any given moment.

Then there are the parents who drop their kids off (Free baby sitting, wtf?)

YOU people, the gamers, WE LOVE YOU. Do not get the wrong impression. We seriously, seriously love you.

It's the crappy, grungy, foul mouthed, stoned thieves that most stores deal with that make things so miserable at times.

But again, gamers, we really do appreciate you, please don't get the wrong impression.

Gamestop sales hit $5.3 billion in 2006

Wow, great to see Joystiq upholding that one-sided brand of "journalism" they are best known for.

I don't see how one company merging with another for the greater good of dedicated game stores is basis for villainy, but whatever, Joystiq seems to have their minds made up on how they will continue to bash the most important company in game retail worldwide. Must be nice to pick on such big targets I guess.

So Joystiq, why don't you put your money where your mouth is, and contact the corporate offices, or perhaps start a campaign for others to follow suit, and COMPLAIN about the open box policies.

Maybe actually going to the company who you incessantly complain about and voicing your frustration will get things changed. It would certainly be more productiver than trashing them on a blog they will never read will actually make things better for the consumers in the long run.

People...just like you and I, work for GameStop, and I'm certain they have people who work at corporate offices, who will listen to mass consumer complaints. Realize that GameStop isn't some singular unit that goes around reading blogs and forums for ways to improve the company.

Quit the b.s. fluff posts that trash GameStop, EA, or whatever corporate giant it is that you choose to make mindless fanboys despise globally on a day to day basis, and actually go to these companies and voice the concern. Use newsposts, comment quote, whatever it is you see necessary to actually change something.

The negative journalism is really becoming a turnoff, go out and change something, or at least try to get both sides of the story before you set out for your next smear campaign.

(GASP!) What has EA done to Wing Commander!

"They just used the name to earn money? that is low EA."

Properties are bought up all the time Why?

"The worst part is that I'll probably buy it anyway."

Because it works.

Until consumers start voting with their dollar, EA will only grow larger and larger on the backs of franchises that, while once great, have sagged, because why bother, when your name alone will get you there.

Next (current) gen, NBA Live and Madden anyone?

This will continue until more people lay down the gauntlet and simply say: "No."

But unfortunately most people who buy EA games are mainstream gamers who will just buy it without a second thought because of the name.
