Ah I see. Well let the ignorant be ignorant then. If you want to buy hardware that's worth $30 for $250 or more, go right ahead. Obviously the cost of the system itself is noteworthy. If you don't have the money for a 360 with HDD or a PS3, that's a different matter. I'm just talking about the value Nintendo puts forth.
I have no idea who he is and what he said but what I've stated is all facts. If you want to debate me point to point you may, but don't bring up other nonsense.
The fact is if you look at the facts in the wrong way, or too simple of a way, you'll get a distorted view of how things really lay. Debating stuff like the success of Wii or 3rd party game sales and where they'll want to develop in the future can't be oversimplified.
LOL making money versus losing money. That has no point in this discussion at all, and would only be relevant to fanboys who think it means anything.
Nintendo makes REALLY cheap (low cost to them) hardware and marks it WAY up, while Sony and MS spend a few BILLION on R&D to deliver a quality product at a LOSS (at launch). Of course Nintendo is going to be making more money, but that they're only ripping off consumers, while this has no place in 3rd party development other than there's a lot more power in the PS3 and 360, and it's easier to make a good game with more power.
Yea, PS3 hasn't had great software sales, but the fact that COD4 isn't on that list, pretty much proves it wrong. The game has sold over 10 million copies, and while the majority is on 360, I'm sure it sold at least 1.5 million on PS3, and probably more like 3 million.
What helps PS3 is it's a VERY similar system to 360. Way more similar than PS3 or 360 to Wii. They have the same amount of RAM, both multicore PowerPC CPUs, both GPUs of the same generation...
So basically you can make a 360 game and port it to PC and PS3 without TOO much trouble. Which makes the PCS360 the lead platform this generation.
Sorry, I should have been more clear, a RECOGNIZABLE Nintendo name. One of their strong IPs like Mario or Pokemon. Just putting Nintendo on the box means nothing. The people who buy Wiis or Wii games (other than the actual Nintendo fanboys) don't care about 'Nintendo', but they do like Mario, Sonic, and if you do something clever with the Miis they like that too.
The myth of Wii 3rd party sales is that they're doing well. They're not, despite what Nintendo fanboys will tell you. Wii fanboys like to bring up 'facts' like how the first 18 months of 3rd party Wii games were better than 360's or PS3's. Guess why? Because the Wii hardware and software COSTS LESS, and the Wii sold nearly twice as much as the 360's lethargic start at prices that rivaled some of the most expensive console launches ever. Even now, unless you ignore the fact that you really DO kinda need a HDD to have fun on 360, and it'd be nice to have a HDTV, the 360 and PS3 are THE MOST EXPENSIVE CONSOLES EVER. I said on forums before the 360 launched that the system would be a complete failure. I was wrong. I expected 3D0 level sales, but the system is one of the top sellers ever.
ALSO, you can't ignore the fact that while some 3rd party games sell well enough on Wii, they're stuff like ultra casual and very poor quality games, or games that have Nintendo deals. If this game had been Mario Blox, it would have sold 500k easily. However, EA would have had to pay Nintendo for that name.
Would have been nice if that site had at least bothered to take a screenshot of the PC/360 versions in parts of the game that weren't completely different!
The majority of people that own Wii not only don't care about graphics, but they don't care about games either. Look at what sells well on Wii. There's no tie to actual game quality.
I think that's the problem most gamers have with the Wii.
