"...the entire product felt more like a prototype than a final effort."
Sounds about right. And what are we supposed to be comparing the 360 to? The competition is not even out yet. What a silly question. But does my 360 seem to work like a prototype... yes.
You are right and I am not too big of a fanboy to admit being wrong. I do own a 360 but not a media center pc. Unfortunately, a lot of other people don't either so either way, both companies are getting peoples money.
Please explain to me HOW you have been streaming HD content from you PC using your 360. Not HD content you download from the marketplace. True idiot.
Everyone else, if you want to use other video formats with this why not just convert it to an iTunes format? There are plenty of programs that will do this and anything in your iTunes library should play like the next.
I use the FM transmitter from Kensington and it is amazing. Sometimes I wonder how it received FCC approval because it will overpower any station I set it to. Sound quality is awesome through the line out which is an advantage over headphone jack in my opinion. No complaints whatsoever.
Here was my problem with SonicStage which I know some people will bash anyway. If it works for you power to you. My problem began with the Vaio Pocket. This came out a while ago and shipped with version 1.5 or something like that and after installing some firmware updates and newer versions (to fix slow transfer speed issues and device recognitin) it worked well. The problem came when I picked up a NW-E507 player which is about 2 years newer and shipped with a later version of SonicStage. At that time, I could not simply install the latest version of Sonic and have it work with everything. For my Vaio Pocket to work, I had to start with 1.5 and work my way up hoping that the later player would work. But the later versions have additional DRM options even when ripping your own cds that eventually did not work with the Vaio Pocket or the NW or both. Supporting both products from one installation of SonicStage just did not work too well. Loved the hardware but there were just too many versions of SonicStage working differently with each product back then.
I just got my custom sleeve from Reload bags and it is awesome. Fit is perfect, choice of custom colors and options, and completely handmade. Not for everyone but very cool if you are looking for something different.
I stopped using SonicStage around version 3.5 or so and that was one of the problems. I had a Vaio Pocket for large storage and a NW-E507 for smaller. These players are about 3 years apart and ship with version 1.5 and 3.0 and the program (at least at the time) did not auto update. You specifally had to download and update it yourself but the compatibility depended on version you were starting off of. I could not simply download the latest version and have it work with both players. I had to start with 1.5 and add specific versions to get it to work. After my pc crashed (I backed up all my songs), I reimported as expected but the DRM just took over. Some files ripped from cd could be transfered but some could not. No store files would transfer. After that, I switched to iTunes. I really hope 4.0 is the all in one backward compatible solution because the players are some of the coolest designs available.
Sony's DAP hardware has been awesome. Contrary to what people believe, they do not force you to use their ATRAC format. Unfortunately, SonicStage is awful. I had two Sony players that I ultimately had to get rid of because of SonicStage. It got to the point where I could not transfer my own ripped files to the player let alone store bought files. Anyone using SonicStage now care to comment?
