My experiences are not over the top- in fact I find (after having spoken to many women) that stuff of this sort is fairly typical. I admire that you seek to treat women with the utmost respect, but that's not a trait shared by all men and some don't even realize what they do until someone has the courage to tell them.

In regards to your pro-life stance, we do have a disagreement there but it's not because I don't think fetal or embryonic life is not worth protecting- it's because I think the government has no right to tell me that I can't choose when, how, or if I become pregnant. Simple as that. And when the government rules that Viagra can be covered under health plans but not birth control, I have an issue there. Bodily autonomy is not a guarantee for women.

"were at a point in society where men and women are given equal rights"

LOL. Wow. Saying that in a society where my health and reproductive choices are constantly debated and endangered in our government while men are still fully supported medically and philosophically when they have Erectile Dysfunction....I can't believe this.

And Equal Rights (TM) are hardly helping that I get called a "bitch" if I don't smile for some strange man when he asks me to or stop some old dude from touching me at a wedding reception when I tell him to get his hands off me or stop my co-workers from making insulting generalizations about women while I'm standing right next to them. I'm sure you'll probably make all sorts of assumptions about how I look and what I act like based on the situations I've just described (because you're probably a victim blamer, too), but I can only assure you that my style of dress and mannerisms are just about the furthest away from what you would think would invite such problems.

Not all men look at this "whole thing" (I assume you mean the problems some have with the game and not the reaction their grievances have provoked) as lame. Plus, I think you are looking at this whole thing from a stance of privilege- If you are a man or a skinny person or both, then you usually don't have to bother sympathizing with grievances fat people or women may have with the treatment they receive because you never get that treatment yourself.

Also, though you say comments on this entry aren't aimed at women as a whole, I think you should take another look. I've seen "Women will cry about anything." among the first few comments. Plus, there have been a huge amount of insulting statements and generalizations made about feminists as a whole, not just these two writers. Perhaps you need to take another look around.

And just why are you offended by fat people? Because they have the audacity to walk around minding their own business? Or because you have very poor information about the correlation between weight and health?

I also don't see how you can be offended by fat people "as a feminist". As a feminist, you should be looking out for systematic prejudice- guess what, that applies to fat people, too.

I'm right here with you. I'm also a woman finding it frustrating to comment in a sea of woman and fat hating comments.

And I see so many male gamers wondering where all the women are- could it possibly be because the environment is sometimes intolerable? I mean, really, are our only choices to either participate in sexism or GTFO?

Right. I should get out my antifeminist bingo card here and mark off the space where "one woman's opinion automatically cancels out the possibility that something is sexist". Because, you know, if one of us womenz has a differing opinion then the sexist nature of something is instantly negated.

Fat people who exercise regularly (whether or not they lose weight or become skinny) are healthier than skinny people who do not exercise. I happen to be a skinny person who doesn't exercise and I remain skinny though I do not exercise and I do not eat super healthy- is it really that hard to believe that some people have the biological predisposition to be fat whether or not they diet/exercise? Seems a lot of people in these comments could benefit from educating themselves about weight and health since they only seem to be taking their cues from pop culture and mainstream media.
