Jan 20th 2012 7:47PM (Joystiq)To specifically respond to your preference of a Scandinavian healthcare and social welfare over the current American system, first of all I want to add that you are trying to compare a smaller, more homogeneous European country who's citizens all agree to pay high rates of taxes for a top heavy centralized form of government, America, with its long standing tradition of individual responsibility and personal liberty. Now before you jump on me saying I don't know what I am talking about, I have older relatives who live in Canada with a more socialized form of Healthcare. They come down here to the states on occasion to seek medical care they cannot get easily or in a timely fashion where they live, generally because it is not provided or services are rationed. Having been in the U.S. Army, I have been receiving end of governmental healthcare with mixed results. I also hope you are joking about Afghanistan, where the average citizen actually squats outside their home in order to relieve themselves.
