@Cerabret100 I'll second (or third) this. I started playing it last night and I've ben really impressed so far. It has that classic Silent Hill atmosphere, but it actually feels like the series has progressed a bit, too. And the Otherworld is absolutely gorgeous.
@HardBoiled2009 It has some major issues, but I still played through both games and had a great time. SH2 is mostly fine, except for some audio sync issues. SH3 has a lot of slowdown, extremely poor audio sync, and there are few jittery textures here and there. and And apparently the textures have been toned down, but I honestly didn't notice it at all. I'd recommend it, just know that it's not nearly as polished as most HD collections.
I haven't seen any major bugs so far, and I've played it for at least an hour or two ever day since it came out. I have a few random items stuck in my inventory, and it froze up on me once, but that's the worst of it. I just hope they fix the framerate, since it gets pretty unbearable when I'm in heavily populated areas.
I still have my receipt, but this seems like more trouble than it's worth. I hate talking to customer service people over the phone, and I don't see why this couldn't have been done entirely online. You're basically begging for your product to be pirated when you make the legitimate way of obtaining it so complicated.
I bought the DS version for my 3DS two or three weeks ago, and I completely understood the praise within the first hour. It's just a really beautiful game, with an uncommon amount of soul. I'll probably grab this, too, since I wanted to play the upgraded Wii version, but the Wii Shop is such a hassle. Couldn't be happier about supporting Nicalis, either.
Awesome, 999 was brilliant. I already loved it before I finished it, but the major twist was incredibly inspired. The ending practically begs for a sequel, so I hope this new title is connected somehow
I picked one up last week, when Gamestop was running their trade-in deal. There was just no way I could pass up a $100 3DS. A few of my friends have gotten their own over the past week or two, too. It seems like the price drop is having a big impact on how people feel about the system, though the lack of decent games is still a big problem. So far I like mine, but I definitely understand how casual gamers could confuse it for another DS revision. Even holding it in my hands, that's what it feels like, rather than an entirely new system. On one hand, it's nice for something to feel so instantly familiar, but I can also understand why Nintendo's having issues marketing it.
