"dumbed down to the point where only mindless casuals will play.
Sure halo and gta sold great..."
You realize that the majority of Halo and GTA players are casuals, right? I don't care if those games could be played in a "hardcore" way, they are casual games at heart. Maybe not in the same way Wii Sports is, but they are definitely casual. Not that there is anything wrong with a game being "casual"-this whole naming scheme is stupid. If a game is fun, it is fun. It does not matter how complex it is (although more complex games should be recognized, and usually are more fun, than simple games).
"Apple, with seven percent market share, makes more money than Dell, and has a bigger market capitalization (i.e. they're worth more) than Dell to boot! They also have a big pile of cash that Dell only could dream about as they try to stave off bankruptcy."
You mean somehow, Apple makes more money with significantly lower market share? It is almost as if Apple products are way overpriced...
If it is running Windows or Linux, its not a Mac, it is a PC built by Apple. Also, I love the argument that you can use Windows on you Apple machine. Why do you need OSX then? You may like it better, but if you need to run Windows, whats the point of getting a Mac.
Could it possibly be that Halo is the most over-hyped piece of trash game to come out in the last ten years? The first one was decent...in 2001. Even then, its multiplayer (supposed to be the best part of the game) couldn't touch Quake 3, UT or TFC.
I enjoy playing videogames, I post on Joystiq, I'm not the most social person. You have no life if you do 100% in these games. If the opposite of casual gaming is completing games like GTA 100%, I'd rather play casual games. Seriously, shoot 200 pigeons? That doesn't even sound like an entertaining way to spend a week of your (no)life.
