Verizon Motorola Droid 2 sales begin (update: product walkthrough video)

Aug 11th 2010 5:46PM (Engadget)
@That guy 2

Totally agree. My iPhone 4 is the first Apple product I have owned in about 20 years--I got it simply because I was up for a new phone, tried all the Android stuff out there, and decided the iPhone 4 was the best smart phone out there. I totally did not care about Face Time and didn't think I would use it.

Fast forward about 3 weeks. About 10 of my friends/acquaintances have iPhone 4's now, and they are all using Face Time. My wife's best friend even calls us on that now instead of calling my wife's phone.

Face Time is super cool and people ARE interested in using it. Just because it's not on Android doesn't mean it's useless. There's no need for these pointless Android vs. Apple arguments. Both platforms are here to stay. Just use the one you like and shut the holy hell up. Arguing is not going to eliminate the product that you don't like.

Apple deleting mentions of Consumer Reports' iPhone 4 piece on forums, can't delete your thoughts

Jul 12th 2010 9:11PM (Engadget)
Here's what I hate:

I have long been an Apple hater/detractor. I really don't like OSX at all, I really don't like iTunes, and I especially don't like their hardware.

That being said, I finally decided that either the iPhone 4 or the iPad was going to be my first Apple device after taking a vacation and having to lug my laptop through the airport twice. I decided on iPhone 4. I played with one at AT&T last weekend and fell in love with it immediately. (That screen.....holy crap!) I ordered one and I am supposed to get it this week.

So after years and years of Apple hating, I finally buy one of their gadgets and this happens. And it's not that I can't return the phone. I don't even have it yet, and I could probably just leave the thing at the store and get a different phone. The problem is that otherwise it's an awesome phone. But what I am scared of (now this is REALLY ironic) is Apple finally losing its solid gold customer service reputation, losing a huge iPhone user base, and eventually losing the support it once had. I like the devices I use to be heavily supported. If you don't use a Blackberry, iPhone, or Droid at the moment, the phone you are using is probably going to be discontinued next week.

I want Apple to fix this, issue an apology, and get its support back so that I can enjoy my iPhone 4 and get on with my life. For now, I'm thinking of not even bringing it home.

Ubisoft DRM authentification server is down, Assassin's Creed 2 unplayable

Mar 7th 2010 7:32PM (Joystiq)
PC Gamers brought archaic DRM methods on themselves because most of them pirate software rather than buy it. This is also the reason PC gaming is going down the crapper in general. They get treated like thieves because most of them ARE thieves.

I support certain types of DRM. If a piece of software needs to check in with an authentication server EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE, I'm fine with it. If it needs to check in every time I use it, then I simply won't buy it.

Ben Heck's PS3 Slim laptop going for broke on eBay

Jan 3rd 2010 6:38PM (Joystiq)
So let me get this straight--you not only get a free PS3, but a FREAKIN' LAPTOP PS3 at that, and you're turning around and selling it right away? This kid should try Uncharted 2 on this thing and THEN see if he wants to sell it.

Activision pursuing 'online monetization models' for Call of Duty franchise

Nov 15th 2009 3:19PM (Joystiq)
If it's in game items and stuff, I simply won't buy them, as they are usually useless anyway. If it goes to a pay to play format for the online portion of the game, so long CoD. I will be done with it forever if I have to pay for that. Don't get me wrong, I'm having a blast playing spec ops in MW2 with my buddies, but I will not pay extra for it.

Activision is absolutely evil. I hate them, I hate everything they stand for, and I especially hate Bobby Kotick. That company is bad for gaming, and has lost complete touch with what real gamers want. They only want to release things that will make them a quick buck right away. Then they milk it as long as they can until the figure out something else to screw you with.

I broke down and bought MW2 because Infinity Ward is involved and didn't allow Activision to influence their work on the game at all. But this may be the last Activision game I ever buy. I am so sick of their crap.

Orb for Mac finally arrives, streams media from OS X to any internet-connected device

Windows 7 does this WITHOUT the use of a middle man.

Modern Warfare 2 refused by digital distribution retailers; Steamworks to blame

Nov 6th 2009 1:10PM (Joystiq)
I'm sure this is all Activision's decision--I can't imagine why it wouldn't be. Infinity Ward may have developed the game, but Activision is in charge of the money.

I'm trying as hard as I can to NOT buy MW2 because of my hatred for Activision, their CEO, their crappy music games, expensive peripherals, etc. I think they are the most evil company in gaming these days.

Left 4 Dead 2: now with 4 times as many pre-orders

Nov 5th 2009 11:14PM (Joystiq)
I love Valve, but I just don't get how they were so intent on rushing this game out for the holidays when people have literally been waiting for YEARS for either HL2 Ep3 or just plain old HL3. It just looks fishy when a company notorious for taking their sweet ass time on every single thing they release does something like this. I don't care for zombie games, so it's really no skin off my nose, but I am a bit angry that the Half Life series seems to have been forgotten. Half Life 2 is my favorite game of all time, and I want to see how the story ends.

This is the story of New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Nov 5th 2009 9:20PM (Joystiq)
The Wii is the only platform I don't own right now, but I have to say that after seeing that trailer I really want to play this game......as long as it doesn't involve me jumping around the living room like an idiot. I want a directional pad, and 2, maybe 3 buttons that I have to worry about. That's about all I need.

DJ Hero sales 'modest,' analyst says; Activision refuses to comment

Nov 3rd 2009 5:38PM (Joystiq)
I say cheers to everyone who did not buy this game. Activision is a horrible company and doesn't deserve ANY sales as long as Kotick is running the show.
