First iPhone worm rickrolls jailbroken phones

Yeah, because Verizon has a major presence in Australia...

Batch tagging your iTunes videos the easy way

Lostify is seemingly barebones, but it's quite a good program. Allows you to add all the film tags that the above poster was looking for.

I do have one thing I've been hoping for. Does anyone know a tagger that lets you set videos as "HD"?

Mattel's Mindflex coming October 1st for $99.99

Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, the psychophysiological measures (heart-rate, respiration and perspiration rates, etc.) are a hell of a lot more rudimentary than an fMRI (and a whole lot cheaper).

I guess if it was just the forehead you were aiming at, then a measure of forehead pulse would work. But whatever which way, yeah, putting it on your dork would give you similar readings.

Haha, nah, it was nothing that complex, and when I said 'industrial' model, I just meant something without the coloured plastic covering it.

Basically, all this thing did was have participants control a ball using what they thought was brain power. In reality, it was just getting them to engage in some basic biofeedback. When they concentrated, electrodermal activity was increased, which in turn affected the ball. Conversely, when they relaxed, EDA was reduced.

In effect, this gadget (for the life of me I forget the name, as this was the one and only time I had used it) was a basic Biopac. I'm assuming that this toy works by monitoring the pulse in the outer ear (vagal nerve), which will give you a similar measurement of arousal, without having to hook up electrodes to the fingers.

I've had little contact with neurological equipment, so you'll have to clarify. Squids?

Interesting. I was using a version of this (albeit an industrial model) when giving a lecture on psychophysiology a month or two ago. Assuming it's based on the same underlying technology, then yeah, this works.

The top 25 things that only happen on TV, according to our readers - Part 2

Post-it notes, even long ones, will always take only a second to write.

If you're in a car crash, it's always going to be at a crossroad, with the other car t-boning you unexpectedly. That, or equally risky is walking onto the road without looking both ways, cause the meandering bus will no doubt hit you straight away.

Meizu M8 interface gets tweaked once again. A few pixels to the left, please?

Mar 16th 2008 6:16AM (Engadget)
I know that analogies are used to death, but it's like throwing a V12 in a Mini and wondering why, with the same gas tank, you can barely get out of your driveway. These limitations are being done so as to make sure that the iPhone experience will be seamless one cell to the next. That way, Apple knows that if at whatever point they want to put out some new firmware, they can pretty much be guaranteed that it will work. Maybe cell phones running Windows are more flexible, but judging by the rapidly rising market share of the iPhone, I don't think people are really complaining.

But yes, I will admit, I do love my iPhone to death, and using the same car analogy you could do a complete 180 with my argument. Sorry about the "asshole" comment.

Wow JAmerican, quite the asshole, aren't you?

Really, for the added "repression" that you get with the iPhone, you're also getting an exquisitely made device, with an OS that you know will be rock solid. The Meizu may be more open, but I'd be interested to see which one you'd be cursing more after a month of use.

But um, yeah, fight the revolution!

Half-Life 2 on the Mac? Give Valve one million dollars!

Oct 7th 2007 12:42AM (Joystiq)
Bah, I don't get the big demand for Mac gaming. The way consoles are these days, it's the smarter choice to get one of them for gaming, and a Mac/PC for everything else. I know, some games are PC exclusive (strategy especially, including the series responsible for many of my sleepless nights - Civilization), but consoles have really caught up (if not surpased).

If more Mac games were created, remember, a large portion of the Apple market would not be able to really play them - Macbook buyers. Macs are great machines (I'm loving my iMac and my Macbook), but until Apple starts putting in some hardware that could actually play games well, there's no point them bending over backwards to get developers onto the platform.

That said, if Apple really does want to get in the game, getting Valve on their side would do a hell of a lot of good.
