Wii No Ma trademarked in U.S.

Feb 25th 2010 2:07AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I gotta say, I only really discovered the Wii no Ma a week ago, and, really, it's a fabulous and versatile channel. If it finally comes to the US, I'm very interested to see what they offer AND if the DSi channel is also offered.
Bonus comment: Wii no Ma has Sesame Street in Japanese. Does that mean the US channel might get Sazae-San?

Swag Sunday: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (Wii) [update]

Feb 15th 2010 7:56AM (Joystiq)
I would name my airship The HMS Cigar In DaVinci's Eye, because I did it and dammit, he didn't. He thinks he's so great because of all the inventions and concepts he created? Well guess what you didn't have, Leo? That's right, an airship, or at least not one that we know of! Well, I'm not gonna be some kind of humble humanitarian, I'm taking this airship, flying it over to Italy, and I will land it on your grave! That's one point for me and the HMS Cigar In DaVinci's Eye!

Sadness website is gone ... don't even feign shock

Feb 4th 2010 1:07AM (Joystiq)
I've been trying to keep tabs on this game ever since it was announced nearly four years ago. Everything about it - a post-WWI psychological thriller - sounded incredible. I was sold. Originally I would check the website nearly every day. Then once a week. Eventually, once every few months. I finally emailed Nibris about it back in July and never heard a peep back. Even still, finally having the website disappear...I really am disappointed.
See you in another life, Sadness.

I bought the game from playasia and, like all good importers, I promptly made a copy of it so as to not risk scratching my expensive, grey-market edition. I am more than willing to play on the actual disc, but does anyone know if my backup will work, or do I need to just play with the real thing.

Nintendo officially announces large-screen DSi LL, hits Japan Nov. 21

Oct 29th 2009 7:43AM (Joystiq)
Despite some great leaps forward in the past few years (including the possibility of government funding assistance) the number of babies being born in Japan is frighteningly low. A lot of people insist that it's simply too expensive to raise a child. Now couple that with the fact that Japan has one of the highest if not THE highest life expectancies. The silver population is rampant and not showing any signs of going away as people get healthier and medicines get stronger. Now if a massive group comes forward and says "The screen is too small and that's the primary reason we don't buy one since we would totally use all the useful titles on the DSi!" what the hell else is Nintendo to do?
This isn't for you. Your next evolution of the handheld is coming. Just let Nintendo offer a product to a large, select group and wait patiently. It's going to be alright. Shhh.

Joyswag: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story prize pack [update]

Sep 29th 2009 7:38PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
The insides of Bowser are actually the lost remnants of an ancient civilization, consumed by the Koopa King after a night of abusing Ny-Quil. They are known as the Or'Darvs, and their entire city, including 20,000 people, still live in his lower intestine today.
And they play a really nifty song every time he gets indigestion!

Inside Bowser is a tiny Mushroom kingdom, with tiny plumbers, and a tiny princess, and a tiny Bowser, who has an even smaller Mushroom kingdom inside him, and so on and so forth, like Miyamoto's own magical illusion. It's...glorious...

Have you ever played Mouse Trap? The insides of Bowser look exactly like the completed board, only the man jumping into the tub is actually Marc Walberg, and the center is not cheese with a net, but several buttered scones and a large anvil.

But otherwise, exactly the same.

Swag Saturday: Picross and CrossworDS (DS) [update]

Aug 9th 2009 9:48AM (Joystiq)
Definitely Mr. Driller for the DS. He's been successful everywhere else, but the complaints about the US version being bastardized were long and loud. You know what? I got to drill through colorful blocks. And that made me happy. The End.

Joyswag: Wii Sports Resort + 2 MotionPlus adapters [update]

Jul 29th 2009 11:46PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
My favorite vacation of all time was a trip with my wife (then girlfriend) to California. We went with no suitcases, just a backpack each, and no plans on where to go or where to sleep. With no set path and no worries, it was simply the greatest week ever. Also, we ran into Eric Estrada in a Big Lots.
