I love how Joystiq writers always talk as if they all work in the same building even though we know they don't. It totally doesn't get on my nerves...

Rumorang: Elder Scrolls MMO three years into development

But Todd Howard said, *last week*, that his team is NOT working on an MMO and all but confirmed that Zenimax ONLINE is. The interview where he said "no plans for TES" isn't recent, the Kotaku interview is.

I think when he said "no plans for TES" he meant that they aren't planning on announcing anything anytime soon since we pretty much know that they were working on TES V before they even started Fallout 3. They already said that a few years back and expected it to be done by this year, but then they started work on Fallout 3 and it put TES V on hold. That's why I said that I think they are probably still working on TES V but they probably have a lot more people on FO4.

It's also very important to note that he confirmed that the game that they are making is using Gamebryo. I've done a lot of tinkering with the versions that they used in FO3 & Oblivion and I can't see them using that engine to build an MMO. I don't claim to be an expert but it would make a lot more sense to me if they were to use a different engine to build an MMO because they would pretty much have to rebuild it from the ground up which would take a lot more time and money.

Also - according to VGChartz, Fallout 3 and Oblivion are pretty much even in terms of sales. But Oblivion has been out a lot longer. So, Fallout sells better but still couldn't be considered a "big game" compared to a TES game? Care to explain that one? Sounds like your personal preferences are swaying your opinion. For the record - I'd rather have TES V first as well.

Howard said that there are no plans for another TES game back in August but he also said on the Kotaku podcast recently that they are working on a big game (not an MMO) and it's being built with a further-improved version of the Gamebryo engine (Fallout 3, TES IV & III use this engine). I'd say it's a safe bet that this "big game" is Fallout 4.

Todd Howard said in an interview recently that Zenimax Online was working on a "very big" game, and this would definitely fit the bill. However, Zenimax Online and Bethesda Softworks (TES, Fallout 3) are two different studios that are owned by the same publisher.

This is not the game that Todd Howard's studio is working on. If I were to guess I'd say that they are working on both Fallout 4 and TES V, but probably with a much bigger team on FO4 to get it out quicker.

In short - don't freak out. This really has no bearing on whether or not we will see a TES V (psst- we will).
